pinterest traffic....

Pinterest has a huge female following. The only things that work traditionally is crafts, trendy clothing, new makeup, etc. Keep that in mind when considering it for conversions.

I like to know if anyone has seen an increase in income since on Pinterest.

I have for sure, but it wasn't from random pins mostly. The vast majority of the traffic and income boost was from 2-3 pins that went viral for whatever reason (5k+ repins) and those continue to drive steady traffic each day now.

I post from 2 accounts, 1 pin every 12 hours to hit the category page, no spamming pins or any of that. I've considered looking into some of the bots here but honestly things are going well and I don't want to get my site blacklisted from Pinterest for spamming or something  not sure about it yet.

maybe try use pictures that are already going viral or 1's that look similar

that's basically what i do. i take pins from the most popular page and then i pin them on my accounts. pins that are already on the most popular page are obviously viral and well liked so i just take them, put my link in, upload them to my accounts. simple

Yep. I mean, we have 1000 more visits/day than before. And they convert *better,* so it's just math.

I also want to comment on the statement that Pinterest leans "hip" or "trendy." I think this is only partly true. Pinterest has more than one demographic. And one of them is a decidedly not hip, mid-west "family" sort. This data is pretty easy to find on compete.com. Texas, Utah, Il... all over-indexed. Coastal cities, under-indexed (the exact opposite of most early adopters on social sites to date).

Now there are lots of San Francisco/New York "power users" (all of Pinterest's recommended followers) who have great taste, hip fresh finds, etc. I'm not saying to ignore them. Often they are "taste-makers" in any community. But statistically they are NOT the current dominant user-type in Pinterest AND they are much harder to the attention of, because they are already awesome at finding stuff on the web. It's not that they hate your offer, it's that if they wanted anything like that, they could easily find it on their own deliberately, not in the "discovery" mode that Pinterest facilitates.

In my (2) accounts, I have the attention of both hip people, and midwestern family types, and the LESS hip people convert at a much higher rate. This isn't because they are 'fooled,' it's because they are sincerely surprised/impressed/didn't know something like $product existed before.

I'm not going to prescribe how to use Pinterest. I sincereley believe there is more than one way (like all social media and marketing). But don't worry about any single rule, and pay attention to the free, publicly available data.

Pinterest is both different from any social network that's come before it (demographically) and similar (it will eventually fade out. not just due to spammers, but due to the natural social cooling down that afflicts all social networks when something hotter comes around).

Can only your followers see your pins?

your followers and your followers followers, if that makes sense haha

you also have the possibility of getting your pins in the most popular section and the main category sections, i think this is determined by the pins that have the most repins, comments, and likes. i hope this method is not too hard because i have seen some pins in these high traffic sections with only 10 total repins. i am going to experiment with this method soon when i have a lot of accounts :)

Weird thing for me is the traffic stays on the site for a way long time and visits lots of pages. Not like any other social media referrals.

I'm getting about 1000 visitors a day from Pinterest, and it converts better than Twitter/Facebook/Google/Tumblr.

It is important to note that my "money site" is 100% white hat retail, not a middleman CPA offer.

Agree 100%...I'm doing 20k hits a day and it's all white hat retail. I am a shareasale merchant and affiliate and am busting out shoes, crazy aprons, wedding dresses, you name it....I am literally throwing the kitchen sink at them....screw CPA
