From my experiments followers are growing quite slowly on Pinterest...I'm in 25 boards with 3k, 5k, 10k, 15k average followers, I pin about 10 pictures in every board once at every 6 hours but still I get an average of 20 - 30 followers per day which is low...probably it depends on the niche idk. What I don't complain on are pins, I get few hundreds per hour for a few hours and then they start to decrease. I'm doing everything manually, I don't think a bot would help me because I diversify, I sometimes comment, like, pin, comment, comment, pin, pin etc its not just a single pattern like pinning every few seconds as bots are doing and moreover I don't pin randomly, I analyze a picture (again, a bot cannot do this) before pinning it just to make sure it will receive lots of pins.

It also helps if you interact with your board. E.g; "Repin if this is pretty"

You're right, actually I'm already doing this and moreover when others pin my pictures I go on their profile, follow them (Only if they have over 1k followers), pin one or more of their pictures, like, comment...most of them follow me back but still I get followers quite slow and this process eat a lot of time which I don't really have for this...

Once I get my Twitter account up to 10,000 followers,I might hit Pinterest again.I have 2 other aged accounts I made when I made my original account.They only have like 2 or 3 pins and maybe 10 followers.We will see how it goes..

Your right about that..I hit it very aggressively.But I do know the limits now,but for all the work and the return in cash I got which was only two sales,I don't really think it's worth my time.

I'm working on my Twitter account now which I just hit 6000 followers with way better results than Pinterest.I'm gonna focus on that now.

you are making the biggest mistake that a lot of internet marketers make, including me: jumping from method to method.
you will never have true success that way.
stick with pinterest and keep learning.

I've collected *ahem* a bit of data from pinterest over the past few months. No content, but relationships between users, boards, and pins and built a graph of it in Neo4J. So if anyone wants to know something about the structure of pinterest (on the big or small scale) please ask. I think we'd all benefit.

I also have a pretty slick REST-style API wrapper around pinterest, so you can just pretend like they want you to scrape their site. It even has unit tests, imagine that. It doesn't support proxies right now, but if you know what an API is and you want to use it, then we should talk.

say i have 100 wordpress posts, each post have its own image. i want to pin all of them to pinterest.

I actually have zero experience posting data to pinterest, only collecting data. As far as requesting data goes, the code was sustaining on average 20 requests or so per second for the better part of a year. I wasn't really doing anything fancy to avoid detection, just a couple proxies. If I pushed it beyond 20 requests per second, I'd start getting DNS and internal server issues. I'm not sure if they were legitimate errors or that's how they were throttling traffic. The DNS errors were really strange, and I'd actually get them as an HTTP errors so it was definitely server-side. I suspect if they were legitimate errors, they may have been related to their internal network issues. Maybe a down node in a cluster or a data center move, but who knows?

I can't offer lots of advice on avoiding detection, since I only have one account. I have seen a number of pinterest accounts though. The popular, presumably real (maybe?) accounts with millions of followers often are only following a small number of people. Typically they're following less than 500 people. I'm kind of curious if it might be helpful to go with the follow-them-they-follow-you approach, but over time to slowly unfollow them once you get some momentum going. I have no idea if that would help, it's just an idea.

Totally agree with this post. TBH, there's no way that you can learn the ins-and-outs of a system unless you put 100% focus in it. Once you do that, only then should you upscale that medium until you have everything on automation.

Back to the quote, I am definitely guilty of this although it doesn't hurt to put your eggs else where. The only reason I am on this thread is because I was once into Pinterest marketing.

You just gotta stick to it, get serious about your work, don't do anything besides your work, i.e. stop playing video games, watching tv, or any sort of social life cuz all of those things are great n all but will destroy your chances of success in IM, period.
