Pinterest Discussion Thread <<<<<<<Lets Branstorm

Thanks bigg_capp for your words of wisdom, I for one will take your suggestions in consideration.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL

Yeah, I already read through the thread. I don't really want to invest any money yet, so I just used an iMacros script to mass follow. What are the usual ways to get into group boards?

What are the usual ways to get into group boards?

Many board owners have instructions on how to join so just follow them. In absence of any instructions, just leave a comment on the latest pin beginning with @board_owner's_url.

At about how many followers did you guys begin to earn?

livechat if you have any specific questions ask them here. That way you can be enlightened and it can be open for other members to see.

Anybody else have a HUGE drop in traffic over the past 2 months? Went from getting about 3000 visits a day using only 1 account. That dropped down to about 300 a day.

Naturally i decided to get more accounts.... using 600 accounts now and pinning unique images to all of them and still so no difference in traffic lol.

Guessing they made a change that impacts the total visible outbound links to a single website? That way no matter how many pins you have.. only a certain amount will be visible in search

actually hmm i have a different theory now. I am looking at some of my new pins that i ripped the metadata from and renamed the file.. I pinned them and it says they are pinned elsewhere.

That means that pinterest is using some other method to identify unique pins. Maybe a watermark

Do you only pin from your own site and do you have only 1 site?
I guess it's natural for pinterest to make links to one site less visible, so instead of getting more accounts you should get more sites.

Also for pictures i think it's best to also make them unique by rsizing them and uploading them to your site and watermark them yourself, so they are all unique. If your theory is correct then your pins will be more visible.

Pinterest is definately changing a lot these days with new updates, so i guess the times of mass scraping and mass pinning are coming to an end. That's bad news but also good news:
Bad news: It will be harder to get mass traffic to sites easily.
Good News: If you adjust your method you can be above 90% of the competition :)

@eviltomato
Each pic can have some info hidden inside it ( a member posted something about this a few pages back ). Maybe here is the problem.
Please, let us know if you managed to resolve the problem.

Or maybe an image recognition algorithm.

Pinterest just acquired image recognition and visual search startup VisualGraph - http://techcrunch.com/2014/01/06/pinterest-visualgraph/

I run the images through 2 metadata scrapers. I also create a new image in photoshop.. and paste the existing image into it as a layer and save it.. guaranteed to wipe all metadata lol.

Yea i could have multiple sites.. but i am building an authority site.

I could buy a ton of domain names and just do redirects, but last i remember it is hard to redirect from pinterest to a different domain then the one listed in the pin.

Hmm wonder if a subdomain would count as a unique domain.. Probably not i guess

Im aslo get some drop in traffic. Get 400-500 UV's in november and next month my traffic decreased to 100 UV's/day. It happened in just one day.

Can you tell as which software you use for metadata scraping?

I use "Fotosizer" for make images unique...i will resize, change name and add watermark - is it equals same as metadata change? What is different between resize, watermark, file name change vs metadata?

Thanks!
catwithhat.

Meta data in simple words are the data of the image file or any other file something like an identity, -->right click on image->properties->details, there you have your meta data.

Okay, so if i change name, add watermark, and resize image, it should be unique enough?

Thanks!
