phone number facebook profile

hey guys...

I need some help!

I have some Facebook profiles I purchased that I use for advertising.

At some point, these profiles had a phone number linked to them, but not anymore. Still, Facebook keeps asking me for a code that’s supposed to be sent to the WhatsApp number that was once linked. Does anyone here know how I can get rid of this headache? I want it to stop asking for anything related to that phone number.

The number is no longer linked anywhere on Facebook. I’ve already deleted previous login sessions, and the authenticator is set up. And even after all that, it still asks me for WhatsApp codes :(
no way.just remove them and use new cleaner ones you can add phone number yourself

Yeah, that’s a common issue with pre-owned or rented Facebook profiles
Even if the number is unlinked, FB still caches the previous recovery method deep in the account's security logs. That’s why it keeps prompting WhatsApp verification.

Here’s what you can try
Add a new number + verify it via SMS/WhatsApp, then remove it after 24–48h. This can sometimes reset the fallback logic.

Go to Settings > Security > Two-Factor > Recovery Methods make sure no old recovery options are listed. If it’s greyed out or empty but still prompts, it’s in FB’s shadow backup stack (not user-visible).

Try logging in from a mobile browser (not app or desktop) it often triggers email or authenticator verification instead
Don’t spam login attempts. That triggers a higher trust barrier.

If nothing works, sometimes your only option is to burn the profile or cycle it into backup use. When buying FB accounts, always make sure the linked number is retrievable or that you can do a full reset.

I also had the same situation and the best way is to create a new account because there is no way anymore since you can't access the old account anymore.

Facebook may still associate the old WhatsApp number with your account internally, even if it's no longer visible. Unfortunately, there's no guaranteed way to remove that prompt unless the original number can receive the code. Your best option is to appeal via Facebook Support or switch to a new, clean profile setup.

Yes, you are absolutely correct.

If you cannot receive the code from the linked phone number, the account is almost useless in most cases – especially when Facebook requires verification via SMS or WhatsApp. Even if you delete the number from your account, the system can still store this information at the **system level (backend)** and use it to verify your identity.

Unless you control the original phone number, it is best to avoid using such accounts or switch to a new, clean profile, properly built from the ground up for long-term stability.

It is very difficult when you do not have the verification code, only the customer can buy the account number information to re-register.

This issue often happens when Facebook still associates the old number in its backend, even if it's not visible in the settings. To handle it safely:
  • Go to Security & Login > Two-Factor Authentication and ensure WhatsApp is fully disabled as a login method.
  • Check Identity Confirmation and Authorized Logins — remove anything tied to that number.
  • Try logging in via a browser with clean cookies or a different device to avoid cached verification flows.
  • If the prompt persists, contacting Facebook support is the safest route to clear old verification links.
It’s frustrating, but full disconnection often takes time or manual support review.

it's really hard, i think you should give up

You can bypass it by extracting the accounts cookies/session and logging in that way, an easier method would be renting a number for each account so you can simply keep receiving the OTP when needed - a couple providers for renting numbers can be found on this forum, check the marketplace.

You can try changing your password and logging in again. This may help Facebook recognize your account again without asking for a verification code from your old phone number. If that still doesn't work, contacting Facebook Support is your last resort to resolve the issue.

Try contacting the buyer to see if they can assist. If not, I recommend switching to a new account, as WhatsApp-related issues are extremely difficult to resolve without access to the original phone number.

Change Login Method to Email + Authenticator Only

  • In Settings → Security and Login:
    • Remove all 2FA phone number methods
    • Ensure only email + app-based authentication (like Google Authenticator) is enabled
    • Add backup codes
    • Save them securely

You can only use these accounts if you can access the code sent to the linked phone numbers; otherwise, many users will abandon them due to usability issues.

This is why it's a bad idea to use short term verification services. You want a long term, permanent number.

Hi guys!

Thank you all for your responses and advice!

I’ve tried everything except speaking directly with Meta support! Honestly, it's not easy to get in touch with them. I think those profiles won’t be useful anymore, and the best thing moving forward is to buy ones that don’t have any numbers associated.

But thanks again to everyone for taking the time to reply and help me out, I really appreciate it!
;)

Hi bro how are you?
that is not a secured profile.
Ping me on my telegram : https://t.me/Facebook_Mario_Support

the only way is to contact the seller about the warranty policy, you need to be replaced with other accounts, there is no way to get that whatsapp code.
