Hey Ray! This is not an exact science answer... Though I will tell you I haven't had a site penalized from spamming... Only links devalued when Penguin rolled around... Which is common when you have sites with 500k Links

Though adding strong supporting links such as PBN/Newspaper/SAPE links will hold you up even when the spam gets devalued.
