Big Flashy add telling Us what we get and showing prices but when you go in to get most of the great benefits come at a considerable extra charge meaning you can do way way better than this if you look around.
 
Alba56 which service would you recommend then for a US based 900-1000mbps constant download and upload server?
 
Ok, so I have to come with a review on their services.

First of all, they have an unknown and sneaky why of calculating the resources one VPS is using. If you go for a level 1-2 VPS, at a certain moment they are sending you an e-mail that you've exceed resources. No numbers,no nothing. Just vague things like: "We have already alerted you regarding your resource usage on the server you are presently on, and this is creating a severe impact on the server affecting other clients."

After that, they move your website without your consent and you are forced to pay their invoice.
You have to change the DNS in 24h and if you are not home or you are free, your website will be offline. This is their kind of professionalism.

Even if you see their e-mail, it takes 24h+ ( as usual) to have your DNS propagated which again puts your webste offline. I am paying them like 2.5k per year for different kind of services, but still they don't care about my business. I am not saying it's a significant amount, but still...

Their support is sometimes good while sometimes is bad, just trying to cover their ugly actions like the one I've just mentioned.

All in one, stay away from them. I will do my best to move as many of my projects from Hostwinds.

Hostwinds for the Win! I've been through many VPS hosting services (bluehost, arvixe, kvchosting, namecheap, hostgator, and others and Hostwinds is by far the cheapest hosting service for the amount of hardware you get with your VPS. I purchased my level 10 ssd vps hosting service and I received the email from them within a few hours (some hosts it takes upwards of 24hrs) with all the detailed easy to follow information on how to access my vps and go to town on creating my individual CPanels in WHM for my domains. If you need to contact them you can always get someone on their online chat 24/7. There website interface for your hosting is so easy to use a monkey could do it. You can easily add (memory, cpu, disk space, extra ip's and transfer speed if 1GB isn't enough) The only thing I didn't care for is you pay separately each month for Cpanel License $13 and if you like using Softaculous License it will cost you $1.50.

This is an unsolicited, unpaid testimonial from me about the team at hostwinds. I have no affiliation with them nor am i posting an affiliate link...


Met the Hostwinds team last fall when I was speaking at the ungagged BHW conference. signed up for a few of their small plans for some of I sites and forgot about it.

Fast forward a few months and I have a very important client with Hostgator that had their website hacked probably through some vulnerability in an SEO plug-in that I had used.

Attempted to fix it by reinstalling WordPress, and thought got it done. Long story short over the next few weeks I had repeated problems with this hack popping up, it would redirect users to some e-commerce website, And added fake content to the client site. Even google marked it as "This site may be hacked" in the SERPS. It was getting wildly out of hand and the client was calling almost daily.

Hostgator, who was hosting the website at the time, Seemed to not give a shit one way or the other what happened. They asked me to fill out support tickets that they answered 48 hours later, with some half assed attempt at fixing it while giving me bullshit excuses about how they have to escalate to a higher level.

That's what I called Hostwinds. I gave him the credentials, they copied over the entire cPanel. then Scott, a customer service rep at Hostwinds, sat on skype with me for 8 and a half hours cleaning every last remnant of glitch, error and virus out of the site. Ran multiple scans and even gave me the text to send google for the reconsideration request.

I shit you not, from 1:15pm EST to 9:40pm this poor bastard sat there updating me every few minutes on what he was doing.
In my life I've never seen a host care so much about a client who spends less than $100 a month.

And yes...i got google's reconsideration in less than 24 hours.

Hostwinds has won my business for life. Bravo Peter, Scott and the rest of the team.

Bought a Tier 1 VPS with the Discount (-35%), Payed with Paypayl, Setup took 15 minutes.
