Hey,

We only suspend users if they are violating a law of the USA. If you were not violating a US law, then please send me a PM with your email on file with us, and I will immediately investigate this for you.

Been using these guys for 2 years maybe even longer and so far it's been great. Great speeds, very rare downtime, super super fast support . Today because i was a long time customer and had an issue with my vps that caused it to be terminated they reinstated the vps for me which was a great great gesture on their part. 10/10 from me. I truly love hostwinds and their amazing understanding and support keep up the great work guys

Wow - I am really going through hell right now with Hostwinds.
I asked here for feedback as I was in search for a simple webspace with domain for a friend of mine and I wanted to help to point to a reliable host.

After registering for the webspace and later for the domain, she sent the authorize code for the domain and paid for it as add on. Nothing happened. After trying over the ticket system the support asked her to wait for about a week, this would be the usual time for a domain transfer. I said this can't be and contacted hostwinds here on BHW per PM, he wanted to look into it himself and handle it directly.

I thought everything went well. Today my friend asked me if the domain shouldn't have been transfered by now already. I said yes and looked into it - guess what nothing. It is such a long thing to get this domain connected unbelievable.

Hey, we contacted the registrar we go through (Enom)

They informed us that your client never actually confirmed the domain transfer. An email would have been sent to the contact on file requesting her to confirm the domain transfer. She would have had to click on the confirmation link, and then the transfer process would have been initiated.

The domain does not need to be transferred to our hosting in order to be hosted with us.

I have restarted the transfer, please make sure the user actually clicks the confirmation email that will be sent to her.

hey hostwinds, Im looking to start a blog am really narrowing it with you guys and hostgator, is there anyway I can get a month or 2 months free?

Well, this is what she has written to you on 13th of June with me in copy:

"Hello,

I have completed the transfer authorization request (by both pressing the confirm button in the actual request form and replying to the e-mail with a copy of the Url, as requested) - and I've done it three or four times, if I recall correctly. This is based on a transfer request I initiated over one month ago.

And yet, today I received information from a friend who contacted Hostwinds to see what the hold up was that:

"They informed us that your client never actually confirmed the domain transfer. An email would have been sent to the contact on file requesting her to confirm the domain transfer. She would have had to click on the confirmation link, and then the transfer process would have been initiated.

Now, I actually did complete all the steps required, every time I did it, and even got a confirmation message on the Enom page that my authorization was recorded. I'd like to know (a) why Enom is telling my friend that I did not click on the link in the e-mail (which I most certainly did), and (b) why every time I have written to Hostwinds to ask what the delay is, you have responded to me that these transfers can take a long time to effectuate. You never once told me there was a problem with my clicking or not clicking the authorization approval request.

I'd like to know for once and for all what the problem is, because obviously there is a problem. Each of the three or four times I have completed the domain tranfer authorization process, I got the message from Enom that my authorization had been recorded.

If it does turn out to be my fault somehow, I'd appreciate knowing it so that I can avoid being such an idiot again in the future (I find such lessons quite useful). But if it's not something I'm doing and it's just that some transfers can take a month or more to do, then ok, I accept that too. But I getting two sets of information about why the transfer is taking so long - one from y ou guys (that some transfers take a long time) and another from Enom (she didn't press the right button). Which is it? Some clarity, please, at least for my own understanding...

Thanks and best, Claire"

This thread is not an extension of the Hostwinds support system, I do not however, have any emails from either your or Claire. I sent you my email via PM, perhaps the email was incorrect. If it was via support ticket, please PM me with the ticket # in question.

We truly are dedicated to your success, and I want to make sure that you get taken care of, so please email me so that I can respond to your and Claire's questions. Alternatively you can PM me your email, and I will email you and Claire Directly

Well if the answers are repeatingly not helpful in the ticket system, we need to ask here. Like yesterdays answer:

"Hello Claire,

I have re-initiated the domain transfer process.

Please note, that domain transfers can be lengthy, as they require the actions of multiple parties to complete.

I will note, however that your domain is showing as a status of "Client transfer prohibited" meaning that a transfer would not be able to be initiated, I would suggest contacting your previous registrar, to inform them that you are wishing to transfer your domain.

You will then receive an e-mail requesting approval for the domain transfer, after you have approved this, your previous registrar will also receive an update.

At that point, it is up to your previous registrar to release the domain to ours.

If your domain is currently registered through ENOM, the transfer process will be different and we would require further information to complete, as this is the registrar that we use, and transfers between the same registrar are handled differently.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.

Again - not helpful, as she stated that she already already did all the requested steps. Helpful would be to lead her through the process. Helpful would be to proactively contact her and tell her what it needs.

I have added your friend Claire on Skype, and will work directly with her in order to ensure she gets her domain transfer.

The domain is currently locked by her current registrar which is why Michael said she needs to contact them. Which if she would have done previously as well as clicking on the approval emails, the transfer would have gone through.

Please let your friend know that I have added her on Skype.

I can recommend them too, great company with great prices and services. Never had a problem with them.
