Would this work if I wanted this package on an aged domain of mine that 301s to my moneysite? I'd feel safer having a buffer just in case it all goes tits...

I am not sure now but you can try. This 301 thing worked great some time back after penguin update when I did lot of this stuff. But it has been a while now.
