Searching for more proxies based on the proxies already found by the tool has always been a part of the software.

I feel it is important to note that port scanning is a difficult task to do right and something that virtually nobody is willing to help others with as the few out there skilled in it are selling the proxies they find from that process. Also port scanning is actually illegal in most places of the world so do be aware of that, port scanning will get your server banned from the vast majority of providers.

This is why port scanning (though actually a very simple process) was never implemented in NHP, because of the potential issues that could arrive from just hitting the scan button without knowing the potential consequences of it.

NHP is still the only tool that is able to output proxy lists at a specific interval and ensure that proxies are no older than a specified time.

What this means is that with any other tool they do a scrape and test the proxies, some will output at the end of testing all proxies and some will output the lists at a given interval. None will re-check proxies every X minutes, this means that proxies can be hours old by the time they are used by whatever tool you import them into. No Hands Proxies ensures that proxies are working within a reasonable timeframe and is the only tool that can do this.

Thank you for the reply. I had downloaded your software and have been testing it for the last few days. But if you do not mind me giving a genuine feedback, the quality of proxies being returned by the software is nowhere near expectations. I hardly get around 10 Google proxies but they also do not actually pass Google search when I check manually at that instant. Morever, the vast majority of proxies returned is not of a very good quality. Most of the elite proxies shown in NHP are not even working or not shown as anonymous by Scrapebox. Though I am an extremely loyal Scrapebox user and simply love it but I do not trust it 100% for the proxy test too as I find many proxies to be transparent though shown anonymous by SB. There are other tricks of finding the quality of the proxy and from my personal experience over the years, the proxies which pass lagado.com/proxy-test normally work well in most websites. Most of my scanned proxies with my own choice of ports pass the Lagado test just to give you an example. And I have hardly ever found any problem with my own scanned proxies in any website.

Even the elite proxies returned by NHP were returning me very less harvested urls per second for the last few days. So, I thought that maybe it is due to the wrong proxy test by NHP. So, I also added the lagado test in the manual website settings in the output settings. And till now, it has not returned a single proxy to be honest. If I run my own proxy sources and SB original sources, I get about 50 proxies at least passing the lagado proxy test in hardly half an hour. And one of the biggest problem is the speed of checking proxies. NHP is too slow in the proxy check and so takes too much time. In SB for example, I can check a 100K proxy list within an hour or so and get at least more than a thousand anonymous proxies at times even after removing the China proxies. But there are hardly a few hundred proxies at a time including transparent proxies. And the elite and anonymous combine runs into a few dozens.

I know about the port scanning and the problems attached. But I have been doing that for long and now know the ports and ranges to an extent. Moreover, I run a separate old VPS where I do not use SEO software or other stuff only for port scanning proxies. It has been long and touch wood I have never faced problems. I anyways scan only a limited set of proxy ports which probably most others normally don't do and only in a few IP ranges after removing dangerous IP ranges. Any good system admin would know that those are for proxies. Even I see port scanned in my own servers in firewall of my servers every few minutes. So, nowadays it is becoming less of an issue I suppose as system admins are now able to differentiate between a hacking attempt and a proxy scan. And for those stuff I mainly use European servers as internet laws are a bit reasonable in those countries. Anyways I use only throwaway and not in use VPSes for scanning and so, even if the server is closed I do not worry.

Please do not mind my genuine feedback for NHP. I really like the logic behind the software but the proxies being returned are really bad and I mean it when I am saying that. These proxies hardly harvest anything. I had set NHP to go through Yahoo and Bing check even and then to output to a file from which Scrapebox would pick up every few minutes. But even with more than a hundred proxies shown in the file, SB could barely scrape Yahoo and Bing at 25 urls per second with 15-20 threads. Most proxies seemed to be banned or not working and were showing errors whereas for my own port scanned proxies or even scrapebox harvested proxy sources it was working at about 200+ urls/s for the former (hardly 20 or so scanned proxies) and around 100+ easily with the latter. (SB harvested proxies with their sources plus my own sources).

The reviews here too seems to be going down recently. I never like to say anything negative about any software and that is the type of person I am. But it hardly seems to be working properly it seems for a dedicated proxy tool. A multi-function tool like Scrapebox is returning probably 10 times better proxies and working probably 10 times if not more faster than this. I love the idea behind the continuously updated proxy file and the harvesting for more sources automatically etc. but in reality it is just not working properly or bringing out any worthwhile proxies.

Thank you jimbobo2779 for the quick reply. I had closed the tool for the last couple of days after not getting a lot of good results.

I always appreciate and recommend any software that works as per expectations. And my expectations are not too high to be honest. I know that Google passed proxy would always be limited. In fact, I rarely use my port scanned Google passed proxies for scraping Google as I have noticed Google banning even them when I keep a very low ratio of threads. Searching Bing and Yahoo is far better and faster and so, I scrap Bing and Yahoo probably 10 times more than Google. So, I have sort of given up on Google scraping recently.

But I was just mentioning about the quality of proxies returned and the speed of proxy testing. Even right now, I am scraping Bing, Yahoo and a couple of other selective SE in my VPS in one of the SB instances and it is scraping at 350 urls per second continuously with just 9 proxies (including some port scanned and the better SB harvested ones) as I type right now. And that too with 10 threads. So, the quality of proxies can be seen from that itself. But when I tried the NHP proxies automatically saved to file (and pulled by SB every 10 minutes or so) with SB search settings, then it was scraping at hardly 20 urls per second with around 400 proxies as shown in SB and NHP. The file and proxies were updated every 10 minutes and so, ideally should not contain a lot of dead proxies if they are of a good quality. So, that would mean something was wrong with the quality of proxies. Even when I manually checked those proxies, those were not working in browser too whereas SB tested proxies work fine in browsers at least 50% of the time.

The biggest problems with your tool if you take my honest review are 2 things for which the quality of proxies are not working that great. The first and foremost reason is that the proxy checker seems to be passing on a lot of low quality transparent proxies as anonymous. I had filtered out China proxies and so, it is not just country specific either. The proxy sources need to be improved and more importantly the proxy checking criterias need to be improved. If the tool could not find a single Lagado proxy test passed proxy in a whole day then you definitely need to work on both the checker as well as the sources. There is also a need to include more options for adding sources manually. For example, in SB proxies can be easily pulled from forum threads and deeper sources in the current v2. That helps a lot as many of the latest updated proxies are present in individual threads in forums and individual posts in blogs.

The second and one of the biggest issue is the speed of proxy checking. For example, I can harvest/load a list of say 100,000 proxies in SB and it checks in less than an hour or so with fairly good accuracy. Even for my port scanned (possible) proxy lists, SB proxy checker works very well and speedily. But here in NHP, the rate is just too slow. I understand that it takes perhaps even lesser memory than SB and is a dormant proxy tester. But I run a quadcore VPS with 8 GB ram and Gigabit connection and do not mind a bit more memory or cpu consumption if the proxy checking process can be made faster and more accurate. When I tried the check my suggested proxy thread option in advanced settings, it only showed up 20 threads instead of the 35 threads present by default. Still, I kept it at 35 but it was just taking ages to bring new proxies.

As you yourself mentioned, the number of public proxy sources is decreasing with time. So, the solution is to run a lot bigger checks with better accuracy and quality to make up for the lack of sources. The number of anonymous proxies returned by NHP is less than 100 or so it seems whereas even a single proxy harvest in SB (with my own proxy sources of course in addition to the default ones) easily pulls in more than a thousand anonymous proxies. Out of those 1000 or so, I just throw away say 900 proxies after running continuous re-tests and custom string tests and removing slow and at times even medium proxies and I am still left with a 100 fairly decent proxies for scraping. Many of the SB anonymous proxies even pass the Lagado proxy test which I have seen to be the most accurate checker over the years but not even a singe NHP proxy passed the Lagado test. The only problem with SB proxy checker is that it is not automated but I am now starting to thing of perhaps trying to find a way to automate it using the automator plugin.

As I mentioned earlier, I like the idea behind your tool and the concept of continuously checking for valid proxies and using those to find new sources. I manually use the same method to find new proxy sources and often find proxy sources of very good quality. I would personally love if it worked as good as the idea behind it. I need to spend a lot of time every day to find quality proxies and would love such a tool which could do all the work for me. I am an honest person and always give honest reviews. Please take my words as feedback to improve the tool. I have checked the whole thread and the problems seem to be reported by several users recently. It seemed to have some awesome reviews at the start of the thread and gradually the reviews and quality of proxies declined. So, probably it is time to refresh the tool a bit and work on improving the checker and sources so that it produces better proxies once again. NHP was released about a year ago and so, the proxy sources on the web has not reduced that drastically since then. If the software was released say in 2009 for example, then I could have definitely understood that the proxy sources including Google passed proxies has undergone a sea change since then. But it is not that drastic in the last 1 year or so. You perhaps just need to work on regularly updating the sources to more quality ones (and possibly including better options to add custom sources) and the proxy checker and it would be an amazing tool once again.

Thanks again and hope you would improve the features in the near future. I would definitely love to try it soon after it is fixed.

And please note that I am not here to write negative reviews. If I would have been just trolling I would not have written more than a 1400+ words reply and waste my time. The reason I am providing my suggestion is because I am really interested in such a tool and in fact NEED such a software which would reduce my proxy finding work for scraping. You can check my posts in the SB thread and I send a lot of requests and suggestions there too. But they always take it positively and most of my suggestions are implemented very soon. Once I remember my suggestion being implemented in a new update within just a day. And I doubt any SEO guy has not got SB. In fact, your tool directly promotes SB and so, I doubt you consider it as a competitor. GSA, SB etc. have now become the sort of default standards in the SEO industry both due to the features, quality and pricing. So, I do not need to promote SB and perhaps you also know it quite well. I am just leaving a positive feedback for NHP so that you can improve the tool to make it an awesome all in one proxy tool. Please do not take my review negatively and kindly use it only as a suggestion to further improve the software. If the software starts working properly soon, I will the first one to jump boat after testing it if possible. And I will always keep my fingers crossed. Best of luck my friend. :)

Might give it ago, I'll reply back here when I've purchased and had it running for a while.

You can go into the Settings tab, unlock advanced settings and uncheck the option to save proxies on exit, save settings and restart the software. Also if you are running with a high number of threads try dropping back to 30-40 and see if things improve from there.

Thanks, it seems to be working fine now.

Google is very quick to ban IPs now, to the point where I get the unusual activity captcha when just searching normally these days. I am due to check the sources to see what new sources can be brought in to improve Google proxies but ultimately Google proxies are unlikely to last long anymore, especially if you are doing searches with operators like inurl:.
