I have a browser plugin listed in google and in firefox (it's a legit plugin).

Would you be able to use that as the "software" that is going to be submitted? I only ask because it would be great to not only get the backlinks, but for my actual software being the thing that is submitted to these sites and not something irrelevant on the offchance somebody happens to stumble upon it.

If so, do you think the success/approval rate would be around the same as what you mention in the OP?

Adroit yes it's possible, but I don't offer ranking guarantees or anything. They are good links and worth getting, even for just the diversity. Not many people have software directory links.
