Hello I was wondering if you could answer a couple basic questions about content locking or if you can point me to a thread that explains it.

I have a website receiving about 1500 visitors per day that is not monetized at all. I want to lock a portion of the content on the website in a locker.

When I was learning about content locking people sent me to several different companies that do lockers, ie: cpa lead, leadbolt, adscendmedia, adworkmedia, but I seem to be misunderstanding something.

All of those websites I go to and sign up with and then they give me the code to put on my website to lock the content. I assume they also populate the surveys or offers that are given to my visitors when they go to unlock the content.

Now, if I was to purchase CLP ver.2 and installed it on my website, I am correct in thinking that the ads wouldn't come with the software right? Just the software to actually lock a portion of my website?

So I think I'm missing something, there is a definite disconnect here. Why would I pay for software to lock a portion of my content when the above websites do that for me for free and also provide the ads for me?

Again, excuse my ignorance, I know very little about content lockers.

Hi,

Thanks for your questions.

You are correct in that if you sign up to a content locking network, they will supply a gateway and offers themselves.

This causes a few issues:

1) It limits you to their offers, and their offers only (which are often just brokered from larger networks).
2) You have no control over the gateway hosting
3) They see where all of your traffic is coming from
4) You have no way of testing other offers

CLP solves these issues:

1) You can sign up to multiple networks and go direct to the network paying most for an offer
2) You control the hosting
3) You control the referrer (they don't need to see where your traffic is coming from)
4) You can test multiple networks and offers with one central installation

So while going direct to a content locking network is easier and cheaper, you will earn less in the long run. You'll probably get a 50% higher payout on an offer by cutting out the incentive networks, so it doesn't take many conversions to cover the cost of CLP and then some.

There are other benefits in using your own locker like CLP as well, but for the basics, they are the main ones. If you're looking for control, higher earnings and ease of testing then CLP is your best bet.

Hope that answers your questions. Please let me know if you need further clarification - I would be happy to help.

Thank-you.

Hi,Does php 5.3 only be required on installing of the script?
For example, can i install content locker on a cheap php 5.3 web hosting and run content locker on another php 5.2 webhosting?
Thanks

Any chance someone can look into my issue with license key.. Ticket id 125922. I'm itching to get started.

1. Will CLP automatically notify me when an offer expires? I imagine keeping track of all the offers from multiple networks can be difficult and time consuming.

2. I read in another post that CLP doesn't work on mobile devices. Is this true?

3. Is CLP invincible to the XJZ survey remover?

4. Can I track each user when they complete a survey? How can I know who completed the survey? Would it use their username (if they have an account on my site), facebook, email, or whatever for SubID? I'm a noob and don't know how tracking works.

Yes - that is correct. PHP 5.3 is just needed for the install.

Someone will be with you soon - thanks :)

1) No, not right not. This is something we are working on for V3 - but it is a trade off between being self hosted and connected to a network.

2) Not true. It works on most as long as you have mobile friendly offers.

3) I'm not familiar with the XJZ survey remover, but I know that it's invincible to AdBlock and a few others.

4) The postback feature only unlocks the gateway when they complete an offer. CLP generates a tracking pixel you add to the offer in your affiliate network. You won't physically know their details unless you use your own opt-in form on the locker - there's no real way round that. All you'll know is that whoever is in your site has completed an offer.

Hope that helps.

Thanks!

Sorry that I cannot read a long thread to know my answer. I'm new with CPA and donnt know if your script is working well with Peerfly?

I heard that they are quite strict. Thanks for your confirmation.

Hi there,

Yes, it will work with Peerfly, but their offers are non-incent, so you'd need to cover your tracks properly.

If you're just starting out - your best bet is to start with incent friendly offers and then mix in non-incent offers once you know what you are doing. Try a network like StrongerAds (run by BTB and Oxonbeef) - I know they are helping people get started with content locking.

Cheers

Hey meathead1234, I'm just getting started with CLP and it looks fantastic! Question for you:

Just send my AM a global postback url and he's asking me this:

"I went ahead and implemented your global S2S pixel. You should be good to
go. What variable do you need to pass after the sub=? I implemented your
pixel as is in the system. Let me know if there is any variable you need me
to pass after the sid=."

Is there a variable I need to send him or is it ok without a variable?

Thanks in advance

Hey,

Glad you got it all up and running and are liking it so far.

Generally speaking, if you need after-sales support, check out www.contentlockpro.com/faq/ - they are far better at helping than me :)

Either way, they told me to tell your AM this:

"We need to have the subid we send with each visitor, returned after the sid= on our postback url."

Hope that helps.

Thanks!

1. Just in case people can bypass the content locker using some kind of tool, is it possible to hide the content or link in the locker popup and have the content/link display from within the popup after they complete survey? This way the popup contains the content instead of just covering it.

2. Can CLP be made to look like part of the page instead of a pop up? I want to place the code where I want the locker to display, like an adsense ad.

3. You said "You won't physically know their details unless you use your own opt-in form on the locker". So does that mean if they enter their email in the opt-in form and complete an offer, their email will be used as subid instead of an auto generated one?

1) The redirect link can be hidden, yes. So the only way they get redirected to the right content is by completing an offer.

2) Not by default, but with some minor coding I'm sure it's possible. Support would be best suited to help with this.

3) No. Your opt-in form would be completely separate. So they would opt-in to your list and then enter their email, where postback would work as usual.

Hope that helps.

Thanks!

Am having trouble with: Offers are not showing up on the locker itself. (tried many things).

:( have PM'd meathead

Can I create multiple user accounts to manage lockers? I might want to hire people to edit lockers (such as adding/removing offers and pausing/starting lockers) but don't want to give them the master username/password.

Hey, I am looking into buying content lock pro over the next week or so.

I am just wondering, what kinda increase in conversions will I expect to be getting? I am currently getting around a 20% conversion rate on clicks, are there any ways that it can improve conversions other than using incentive offers (which I'm not interested in doing). I am currently using adworkmedia's content locker and am thinking of switching to using CLP with CPA infinity and CPAway. What % conversion would you expect me to get when it is fully installed?

Thanks

Your best bet is to email our support ([email protected]) as they'll be able to look into the specific issue and most likely get it resolved in no time.

Unfortunately not. We do have plans to release a version of CLP that will support multiple users (mainly meant for affiliate networks) but the current version is strictly single-user.

It's virtually impossible to give you even a rough estimate as the exact increase in conversions depends on a lot of different factors, however based on the feedback our current clients have given us, virtually all of them have seen at least some increase in conversions, whereas some have as much as tripled their conversions due to the fact that many network lockers are very easy to bypass, don't support all browsers etc. Another important thing to consider is that CLP allows you full customisation options, which is something most network lockers lack.
