Let me tell you how people earn, Youtube views people earn from the visits if they are in the youtube partnership program,
as for regular websites people use cpm ads, Adsense , selling ebooks, as well as boost traffic rank so they can sell their domains at a higher price.

As for adult websites they use it promote using a cookie stuffer or conversions.

Well I always thought that more traffic will boost the Squidoo lense article to show up more. I havn't tried it but if you want to try you can.
