Hi, guys can give tell me or show me some examples of how to hook your readers? Thanks.

Put yourself in the shoes of your target demo.

Who are they? What do they care about (what result do they want)?
What is pain do they experience?
What is preventing them from reaching their goal.

Then use that info to offer a hook that solves their problem and gets them what they want, even if X is currently preventing them from reaching that goal.

If you need more help, post your niche.

You need to talk to your Avatar directly (Buyer Persona).

Talk about what they currently have, feel, his avg day, status, frustrations and fears. And then show them the way to how they will be like after your product.

Refer to their aspirations and desires.

This makes sense.

It's Fintech Industry.

Okay. Currently, I'm reading a Twitter thread and it has an incredible hook - How a YC startup from India pivoted to building____APIs for cannabis merchants in the USA.

So my q is there any template? Or as you said we just have to focus on what triggers them.

In that case like I said before, note down all the info you have about your target market - the things they hate, that costs them money/time and causes frustrations... and all the things they wish they could have that would make their lives easier/better/save them time/money etc.

Then list your features.

Then turn those features into benefits like:

128 bit encryption - You'll never worry about your account getting hacked into - it would take hackers 1508 years to hack through our system.

Instant deposit - You no longer need to wait 2-3 days for your money to clear checking and reach your account - when you pay someone or get paid, the money is instantly accessible.

Customer support - We have 24 support via chat and telephone - we'll be here to resolve any concern you might have within 2 min.

--------- etc. etc.

Then from all the benefits, figure out which ones mean the most to your core audience and make that the core hook of your company .... include it into your slogan / tag line.

I'm pretty sure you can find a lot of inspiration for headlines on the web, the basic game is to be specific, appeal to your audience desires and pain points.

A basic template for this would be:

We help (buyer persona) achieve (desired result) in (specific timeframe) without (paint point 1) and (pain point 2).

Just play around with the variables. And remember, you are selling the benefits that your product/service provides, not the other way around, the product is just the medium to achieve it.

Last year was wondering the same and read the book written by the father of marketing Philip Kotler and learned a simple trick to make them DM me all the time.

Just kidding, I don't have a trick so don't DM me. But this is basically how to make a hook.

You are one of the smartest guys around here. I see a lot of shit on this forum but
your way of thinking about business in general is very good accross all the posts you wrote and things you said during many exchanges we had.

You will build something great, I know it.

Appreciate it. I try to provide value where I can.
My day will come and so will yours, just keep learning and keep practicing your craft.

Start by calling out your target audience, then make them a promise in the headline that is impossible to ignore.

how to hook your readers?
  • Build a buyers´ persona and dig deep into your audience:
    • Passions
    • Motivations
    • Problems
    • Dreams and goals
  • Research about words that "trigger" those emotions
  • Research about bucket brigade

If you dive into these topics, I am sure you will be able to generate content that is far more engaging.

Keep your readers hooked by always keeping them entertained. I found this works well for me. You can do this by hooking your readers in with a list of things that are relevant to the topic and then following up by focusing on the point you're trying to make.
