Well, I don;t know if someone posted this question already or nope. So please be gentle with me fellow BHW members.

SO here is my situation.

GOOGLE Webmasters sent me a letter or notice regarding a certain blog im promoting saying I have unnatural links and blah blah blah. I sent them reconsideration request after removing few links and they replied that my site is still having spam inbound links.

To cut the story short, how come I am penalized with such links (according to Google) but end up ranking (not page 1 though) still at the SERP. I am still getting good traffic from long term searchers. Main keyword is a bit dancing though but traffic is constantly going up even though I got that dreaded notice of unnatural links ending up with some sort of penalty.

Do you have the same experience? Any clues or information about it?

Thanks!

I have seen that ranking drops after 1-2 week of getting unnatural links notice from google.

Thanks for that info, but I received a massive drop already and just a while ago, it bounces back at the SERP.

Ah - you are expecting consistency and for things to "make sense"
Sadly that's just not the case.

Un-natural links for anchor text spamming might just mean a drop for that specific keyword.
Un-natural links for being part of a private links scheme might have different repercussions.

Scritty

The penguin affected one little portion of websites.
I thought the damage would be greater.

mate please wait till dust is settled and never send for reconsideration. its like admitting that you have bought links and now you get caught. just wait and remove it slooooowly. unless you have been spammed in purpose by competitors but even then you should think it very well before sending for reconsideration.
