Penguin 2.0 has begun

out of 100+ sites i've had 1 that has jumped from page 10 to page one in the last few days. That's only movement that i've seen. all the other sites are holding some top positions, so no major changes yet from what i can see.

:261:I have noticed a lot of "spam link" sites move up in serp recently. I am in the US.

Not quite close enough to Christmas for an update - forcing an Adwords rush!:nutkick:

Or maybe there'll just be another one for then. (not cynical at all)

Not seeing a lot of changes yet.

my blogs are dancing. I dont know if its from my link building or this.

Checked over 1500 keywords. No changes that is strange. Just normal ups/downs.

Leith,
What tools do you use to keep track of all those keywords? What would you recommend?

Some of my sites have shot up to higher positions that havent even been getting much backlinking! However I have had two that have just disappeared they are prob in G Dance though. Im based in Manchester, UK

One thread was already opened 2 days ago and movement in the serps was noticed back as far as that time.

I've seen some improvement. My main kw(s) jumped a few pages up. So that's good.

The thread you noted is titled: When does next G-Penguin update arrive?
This thread is titled: Penguin 2.0 has begun

The thread titles are entirely different. In fact, the one you mentioned I would not even have looked at because it has a title similar to the many other "when is the next update going to occur" threads. Well over twenty threads ask similar questions wondering when the next penguin update will happen.

I consider this thread the first one regarding a new potential algorithm change or release from manual penalties. The other threads were started by people simply looking for someone with a crystal ball that works...

Update: I did a 100 low OBL PR1+ comment blast to the client, mainly as a "ping" to show Google the domain has been renewed. 2 days later we're back #1 across the board. Weeeeee :)

Where was this site ranked prior to the blast? Was it affected by Penguin and this brought it back?

Here's the graph...

http://panel.micrositemasters.com/reports/9a2560958fb4846d62123506iqktdq.html

Had been #1 for a long time, even stayed #1 after Penguin 1.0.

Site expired on 9/2/2012, I didn't catch it until 9/4/2012 and renewed it.

On the same day I did a 100 HPR Low OBL comment blast and within a few days our rankings had recovered.

I'm not claiming the comments brought it back, I really just used them as a "ping" to re-enforce to G that the domain was alive again.

Either way, it worked or G recovered them naturally on it's own.

US here. Site had surprising movement up today, from 4-5 to #2 across the board for many keywords.

If there is something coming, they might hit the button on monday morning.

When G released Penguin it was kind of a public relations nightmare for them. I wouldn't be surprised if the new Penguin update partially gets rid of the original Penguin, hence the apparent positive movement from a lot of BHers.

Just checking in here that I control a diversified portfolio that has interests in multiple countries. None of my sites have seen any significant movement at all. When penguin first rolled out they got hit, then in the next small update they went right back up again.

Search engine traffic as a whole though was up for my portfolio, so it could be that the site is doing well with long-tail keywords. At the same time its a bit seasonal and it could just be that its turning into the right season.

I will keep an eye on it and post any updates.

Its nice to see websites recovering that once were penalized; it shows we're getting on top of this algo.

I've also had this thought :)

Yeah, I have quite a few sites and nothing drastic has happened that doesn't correlate with my link building efforts.
