Penalty possible reasons

Hi all!

Since the October updates I've been facing the issue that many others posted here. Many of my articles disappeared from the searches but stayed indexed: no impression no click but it is still indexed, but not served.

I tried several things to recover the pages like upgrading them, de-optimizing the keyword density, internal link exact match anchors, picture alt texts, etc.
Each article reacted to different methods. In some cases, I just deleted the content, asked for recrawling and reindexed again...and it appeared and stayed in Google on their original ranking before the penalty.

However...some of the articles do not stay in Google no matter how I upgrade, or rewrite them...they appear for a few hours and disappear.

The main issue is that this penalty is still here. New pages disappeared even after the end of the Google updates from October.
I can't figure out the origin of this issue...

Is it possible that my other site from the same niche is somehow connected with this one and Google is punishing the site because of it? Many articles rank side by side from both sites for many keywords without issue (number 1 and 2 spots in the SERP) and the articles have different writing styles, content length etc.

If this is the issue, what might be the solution?

I also faced the same thing but I compared data in console that on which content I was getting traffic and which are dead now or deranked.
I made some changes in them like adding new 150-200 words new content in every article, adding 2-3 faqs, right interlinking, removed 404 pages from site and not 100% but yes 80% traffic has been recovered till now.

How long did it take to recover? How many days the serps were not ranking?

I did the same, I recovered 2 articles. :(
 
Sad to hear that nobody found a 100% working solution
 
the same problem occured to me almost for 6 website!
all traffic gone, which was more that 1000 daily visitor for each
 
Is there anyone who faced the same issue in previous years and recovered? Is the damage permanent?

thats 1 might penalty of nothing .

I have 404 errors but from URLs coming from other sites to my site. Can that affect me?
They look like spam sites because they go to URLs that I never had on my site.

if they don't link to each other it's not the problem. But I also don't know what the problem is, I can only speculate if it helps you in any way...
 
At this stage any idea might help...I tried many things...redirected + removed the 404 pages deoptimized + rewrote the articles... And nothing seem to help
 
Your results are omitted, i face the same issue.

What i´ve tried:
- Seperate cloudflare
- Seperate search console
- New design
- New content
- Continue building good links

Now the only thing i can do is wait and drink tea. I´ll report back here.
 
Would be interesting if everyone bought from a specific seller here, maybe his PBN got detected or these kind of links we´re bad. Or what ever.
Feel free to message me private where you bought, maybe i can see some similarities. :)
Also would be interesting if everyone has more then 1 site which supposed to rank for the same keywords.

Although there are very bad PBNs on the forum I don't think that could be the cause. If that were the case it would be easy to destroy the competition by buying links from bad PBNs.

Well something changed dramatically. Either they check now much better multi sites for same niche and have big success or it´s really a specific network.
This is the first update since 4 yrs of SEO which hits me hard.
 
I get many page not found (404) from someone mentioning url-s not available on my site. The more of these links I get, the more my impressions collapse. See the picture below. There is a direct correlation between these attacks and failing site.

I disavowed the url-s mentioning my site and also 301 redirected those pages. However, every new link pointing to my site is caused by a new domain...
Is there a way to fight these automatically and not just after the problem is there?
