Well when it comes to the domain registrar, there were some reports that Google may flag spammy registered domains. However, if you are able to register the domain for 5-10 years, it looks like the longer registration date can somehow put some weight on the domain name with it comes to Google's attention.

When I was new to this and didn't understand whois or anything technical seo wise, I had a response from google that I got a penalty for spam (i forget the exact term in webmaster tools) - anyway knowing nothing i ran to google forum - the response took minutes from a forum mod - too many domains same whois linking to my main site....this was manual review clearly. This was nearly ten years ago I highly doubt they dropped this as a factor on manual review. Whether this was a guess or a mistake telling me, I don't know but it was the only guideline I had broken making noddy little link rings. I will say this though there is another factor - a lot of the urls were on same ip as well so it's not conclusive, but since then i wouldn't dream of having multiple whois matching for sake of manual review.

Not sure if you understood what that post was about. Did you or did you not have Whois privacy on those domains 10 years ago?

ah yeah I've missed this completely, I didn't cover with privacy, your post talking about multiple fake whois addresses and google doesn't see whois which led me to believe you were talking about no privacy
On no privacy, I have some data that I am not willing to share publicly.
