I have stopped using PBN for the past 3 years.
PBN's Was getting deindexed those days, I am not sure about now.
Now I use Niche Edits & Guest Posts.

sure, but it takes a bit longer as you need to promote these fresh domains first.
done it before too and it works. one of my PBNs i've created only with new domains years ago and use them as direct money pages at the same time (cloaking them to affiliate offers) and as backlink source for other sites.
they still rank today and i can use that PBN to push other money sites.

This can work along with some good tier 2 links,
It gonna take some time and won't have much impact as one built with some good expired domains, but worth the shot for a small PBN & easy niche,
Just make sure to build the PBN decently & let it age for a couple of months before linking to your website(s)

If you're not building a PBN on very strong expired domains, then you're wasting your time, energy, and money. A fresh domain isn't going to do shit.
So getting a fresh domain, putting up quality content and getting quality links, and then linking to your money site is worthless, or just takes to long?

You will have to be patient, it can work along with some good tier 2 links

Links you build will be weak and mostly garbage.
That's why we go for old domains with existing link profiles.
These are prior legit websites that acquired strong links naturally. It woulds take you thousands to mimic their link profile.
Doing tier 2 links with software for example is an alternative but not at all equal.
