Paypal: Yay or Gay?

Hello people of BHW, I have a quick question.

I have been using PayPal for some small transaction here and there but now I've opened my own Digital Marketing Agency and want to know if I should continue with PayPal for accepting international payments.

Unfortunately, Stripe isn't available in my country yet.

I'd appreciate if you guys could suggest some decent alternatives?

You can continue with PayPal but what if someone doesn't have Paypal account.

Maximum people using credit and Debit cards. You can use Payment gateway too if you have a good budget.
 
Push for transferwise to your clients. If some of them are adamant on PayPal only then make PayPal available to them.
 
yes you can continue with paypal and you say you started Digital Marketing Agency so i suggest you First covert your paypal account to business account if you receive more big money paypal make limitation on your account and hold your money

for alternatives you can use use bitcoin and other cryptocurrency
you can also use neteller, payza , Payoneer, western union
 
I'd love to get rid of the PayPal but I can't as most of my clients prefer it.

Ask around what's the payment gateway used in your niche and you'll find your answer.
 
There's no way to ignore PayPal given the kind of monopoly they have over the market. Seriously, I've never spoken to anyone who said "Hey, let me pay you through Payoneer!"
 
Transferwise is the best alternative for paypal imo. Low fees, high exchange rate, and fast withdrawal.

Btw I remember putting the words "google is g*y" on my signature long long time ago and mod asking me to remove it as it's sensitive :D
 
Offer a small discount for using alternative payment gateways.

Not sure how large your clients budgets are. But it can prove effective.

I've thought about this too tbh, and it's a great sell to those working with smaller budgets. Personally speaking, most of our clients wouldn't bother :/

You can pay via the PayPal gateway without an existing PayPal account too. Just select the 'Guest Checkout' option.

And OP, use PayPal of course.
 
I always wonder why people even think about this stuff in the beginning of starting their business.
PayPal is widely recognized as a safe payment gateway, and people can pay with debit/credit cards if they do not want to open PayPal account.

I mean, focus on getting clients and building your brand. Once you are making 10K/month in revenues, it will be time to think about alternative payment gateways and other minor details...

I already have clients, but I usually went with cash/local options. Now since I'm targeting people overseas, I was wondering if I should continue with PayPal as a payment gateway since I've seen some threads here on BHW complaining.

If you're using it legitimately within the ToS then you should continue using it. People without accounts can use their credit or debit cards too so it's convenient for all. There's also people who don't feel comfortable entering their card info on sites, and PayPal is a huge benefit in these situations because it's trustable. Not having PayPal available can potentially lose you a ton of customers.

Anyone I've seen who complains about PayPal aren't using it legitimately. They probably put fake info, like name or address, or break the ToS with what they sell with it. I've been using PayPal for years, using accurate info and verified, and I have NEVER had a problem with it. I only had a problem with a couple of business accounts I made where I didn't put entirely real info, their systems check these things and they know when you're faking it. You can put whatever you want as a business name, but for the account owners name you should use your real info. Nobody besides PayPal are able to see it so there aren't really any privacy concerns when people pay you.

Heck, I have a fake name personal account which I verified with a fake ID, I have no card or bank on record and I have been using it to collect donations from one of my websites for years and haven't been limited since I verified it.

I literally do not understand the problem people have with PayPal... They're definitely doing something wrong.
