Paypal wants my supplier

Keep is informed, I want to know how this gets handled... I use paypal but not a lot and what happens here might just turn me against them for good.

i've found that actually calling paypal and talking to a rep is the best way to go. many times when paypal does something like this a thousand reasons pop up into our heads as to why paypal is asking questions.....

but you won't really know untill you talk to someone. i think that something raised a flag for god knows what reason. so just talk a deep breath, pretend to be some dumb stay at home mom/dad that sells on ebay and be very nice when you talk to the rep. if you can, try to talk to someone from the opposite sex and charm the hell out of them.

and just ask questions.

then ask why does paypal need to know this? Tell them i use many vendors, which product are you asking about specifically? Will this happen everytime i make a sale? What's the weather like in Nebraska, Ohio, or where ever the rep is from...

whatever you do, just be nice, and if you get stuck on a question, just say you know i need to look that up, can i call you back?

all it takes is one happy rep to remove the limit from your account.

over the weekend, paypal decided to do a cavity search by running a credit check on my account....but something happened and i woke up one morning to find my account limited. so yeah, i got mad, flustered, but you know....i really wanted to clear up the bullshit right away...and i knew that if i just emailed paypal it would take FOREVER get my account resolved.

so i called paypal. the first lady i talked to was a complete bitch. no personality. no willingness to help. BUT she did tell me what i needed to clear my account.

so i just hung up, got the info i needed and called back 5 minutes later. and the guy was so nice and friendly....i was all, 'i really need your help on this problem...i'm hoping you can help me out....' walla...the guy had my account fixed in 2 minutes and then gave me tips on what caused the red flag and how to avoid something similar in the future.

i know the knee jerk reaction is to be all tough and macho and demanding, but when you do that, it turns people off and they aren't willing to work with you.

also, try not to keep to much money in your paypal account at any one time. just incase it does take forever to get your account fixed.

in my case, it took less than an hour to resolve.

But seriously, your online - ever consider using Google? I mean it takes no more than 5 seconds to get the names of every electronics store chain in the United States.

Please don't come back to ask the stores address and telephone number. Just go to the CONTACT US on their website and give PayPal their customer service toll free number.

I have to agree with Carryout. You really should follow his advice and contact an attorney. Unfortunately it takes a lawsuit like this to stop a big company from pulling this kind of shit. Hitting them in the poketbook seems to be the only way to get their attention.

I actually was asked this once before as well, I just gave them some arbitrary company address and name off tradekey, worked fine.

Well, I would NOT give them your supplier. That is a trade secret to protect your business. Revealing your source is not any of their business.

They either like the business prospect and want to take your niche or they suspect you of foul play.

Either way, it is your right to protect where your supply comes from " as long as they are legit ", however, if you are doing something underhanded, telling a lie with a good supplier will only bust you because they will attack the supplier if they are fakes, stolen or whatever, for " distribution of stolen goods."

Be aware of your position and don't cross the line in cases like this...there is a difference in being blackhat and a criminal.

I gave them liquidation.com and another other place. They accepted those now just waiting for my shipments to be confirmed delivered!

Liquidation.com would be what I would tell them,, Those people are masters of deception and run around and can handle any call paypal could make to them.

Also, I would just get rid of that damn paypal and open a merchant account like I did with ebay. My problems are no more and all the money goes into my account without having to worry if I am withdrawing too much too soon and flagging paypal.. For christ sake its my money and paypal will have you act like your stealing it from them.

paypal hit me with this last year. i made up a realistic sounding company name, made a quick logo in photoshop then created an invoice in excel. Sent it in and they lifted the restriction without trying to actually verify anything. i think they want it just to cover their ass in case of a lawsuit.

I think for you a Merchant account is the way forward.. Mainly cos PP are vampires.. they will suck you dry til you die.

Yeah it was a easy fix. No biggie. I agree and think its just for there safety.

I get this about 3 months with my eBay accounts that are associated with PayPal accounts that earn more than $2,000 USD per month in receiving payments. On my bigger accounts that do $10k a month, I do not get this due to having an account rep that just closes them for me once I get them due to their automation process. For the ones that I have to send info into, I just mock up sales receipts and stuff by printing them with word, putting a couple signatures on it, random numbers, my actual info somewhere, I put a couple folds, do a low quality scan, and I send them the info. Also, PayPal does not (and will never) know my real information, such as my SSN or where I actually live, or even my actual name. They don't really even look at it.

Hah, the same thing happened to me.

Unfortunately, I was selling Windows 7 Ultimate keys (unused and legit) directly from the Microsoft MSDN center. I sold them for $20 each, sold about 10 a day (because I only put up 10 a day). I was lucky enough to take out most of the money in small increments, but one day PayPal finally caught on and limited my account.

It is illegal to put MSDN keys on eBay, so I couldn't really do much at this point. I purposely got denied. At first, I was going to get my money in 180 days, but they found out that I was under 18 (because my father also have a PayPal account and I'm a Jr., so they caught on with that too) and now I have to wait a few more years.

That is exactly what I am also asking myself. If you sell legit products why do you not give real name and address of your supplier?
If you are selling replicas or if you have been reported by your buyers, then of course it's a problem ...
