Hi everyone,
I've sold an Instagram account in February on PayPal for 5 figures, on august I received an email from PayPal telling me that the money will be put on hold then transfer back to the buyer because his Credit card was stolen , I'm pretty sure it wasn't, the buyer is trying to get the money back because if you call your bank and said that, all of the transactions will be cancelled.
I've already sent proof to Paypal, their response was " we going to open a case with the bank", they can't do anything else because it's virtual, not physical, the money is kept by the bank, not PayPal.

Had anyone a similar issue? if yes, did you retrieve your money? Thanks

Why does it take from Feb to August for the money to clear? Or was the money in your PayPal wallet?

Doing a five-figure transaction via PayPal was your first and most fatal mistake. Unless you're talking in MonganNumbers.
Well i can see now how i fucked up , but escrow doesn't allow instagram pages.

NO i had the money the same day available on my paypal account , but i didn't use it.
Basically i had it for 6 months , after that the buyer use his bank to cancel all transactions.
Paypal told me that .

six months is a long time before cancelling purchases though I'd just recommend to ring PayPal and go through the procedure properly

Already did ,I've sent all the proof, they have opened a case with his Bank, all I can do is wait.
The thing is if the bank refuse, I lost the money which is ridiculous.
I don"t know what to do if the bank doesn't give the money back.

I am selling things online and when buyers open a case with the bank telling "the card was stolen" other bullshit, usually (actually every time) buyer wins. Better your proof of sold account/ other proof be real good. Sorry to say that.

Sorry to hear that, OP.
This is a 5 figure lesson. I will keep on mind

I hate to say this but I doubt you will get your money back. You will need to provide some next-level proofs in order to get your money back. Best of luck,OP.

Emails , chat conversations ,calendar meeting are my proofs. Objectively, it's impossible to not see who's right and who's wrong here.
I can only wait for now :(

I think the amount of time will help you has he changed the IG name since you sold it? Do you still have the email it was set up with?

not being funny why the he'll did you not transfer your funds to your bank or a paypal connected card.

why the he'll are you using PayPal like a normal bank .

where did you read to keep cash in a account for months or long time?

the idea of paypal is get paid and send funds to your own bank .

why did you do this, are you legally paying tax? are you a legal registered business ?

why the he'll would anyone do this don't make sense ?

is the paypal account business or personal?

if your a registered business and can prove this money was lost then you might be able to deduct from tax earnings.

if the money is to a personal account your be contacted from your tax office for the tax money , also your be investigated where your money comes from.

know the bank getting involved , you best make sure all your personal or business detail are in order.

PayPal are so hot on fraud or tax matters and really go deep in these type of situration...

I've left it because i didn't need it mediately...., yeah i know dumb excuse, but it seems Paypal would have still transfer the money whether i have it on my account or not. I could have been in the Negative. It a personal account too so i don't know, But this is ridiculous t, if it that simple to fraud with paypal, FUCK.

First mistake to use paypal.
Second mistake, 6 months yet you didn't withdraw.
Just wait and watch.
