PayPal Freezes $750K in MineCraft Dev's Account

I think the real question is how some weird ass game like http://www.minecraft.net/ made $750k =]
Seems like some nice lil PR for this guys company/game
The game is in Alpha, not even beta or released yet. if you watch the youtube vid of the game it certainly doesn't seem like anything amazing or groundbreaking.
how'd he get $750k off such small charges of course pp froze him if me made that in a few weeks from 25,000+ transactions in a short amt of time

You guys are ALL wrong.
The account did NOT get frozen with 600k or 750k in there.
What he has said time and time again (After the original post mind you), is that his account got frozen, but paypal still accepts payments into frozen accounts. So his account got frozen with practically nothing in there. And SINCE that time, he has gathered 750k. Heck, the buy button on Minecraft ATM is still a paypal button.
At the end of the day, he has said that he has been withdrawing money immediately. I can't blame paypal for freezing it. If you didn't know about minecraft, it would sure as hell look like fraud.
The account did NOT get frozen with 600k or 750k in there.

Paypal should be regulated under the banking rules like all other banking and financial institutions in the united states.
Since it currently isn't, and since you are limiting your customer's ability to easily transact business with you if you do not accept paypal, you need to find another solution.
Get a merchant account for alternate use. If you expect a sales spike or if you see it, immediately call your card processor or call pp and tell them that you are experiencing high volume due to new marketing efforts. They will work around not freezing the account.

exactly, some people just need to understand free is not always the best option, i use paypal for 1 thing and 1 thing only refunding people that's it I don't accept paypal for no reason at all.
Interesting slicer how according to you I'm talking shit and yet in my other thread dedicated to setting up anonymous PayPal accounts you give me thanks.
The fact is I do know what I'm talking about and probably have more experience with PayPal than a lot of people on here. I've processed a ridiculous amount of money through my own account this year, and have had very problems once everything was setup properly.
This guy was not some big company or corporation, he was a small fry with a poor looking website with little or no history of transactions.
No one knows the whole story though. If like pyronaut mentions the money built up after the account was frozen, then he's a dumbass for leaving the PayPal button on his site. There are plenty of alternatives he could have used once he saw the money start to pour in, without limiting his market (for example even 2Checkout allows you to process PayPal through them).
Anyway I'm not gonna waste any more of my time trying to explain things to angry muppits such as yourself. Believe what you want man, I really couldn't care less. Like I said if people think they're a bad company, they shouldn't use them. A bit like if you don't like Windows you're free to go install Linux or Apple

try logging in with a non-HK account from China and you get to call PayPal after each login and go through the unlock process... the USA support is much better than other countries' and the staff empathize with you, just saying most blocks are automated and they can add noted to help avoid it in the future, or to aid in resolving quicker... yeah, it sucks, but is there a better alternative yet? unfortunately no, it is so widespread...

And no one will.
Had he put up a 2 checkout button on a site that was already frozen by PayPal he would have heard very quickly from 2checkout that his account was on hold.

My reply was based on my personal experience with GayPal, not a review of the options available on the net. Please lets stay in the same apples to apples context. Please show me where I was knocking GayPal against their competitors?

Damn I had one of those same problem with a client of mine who was suppose to pay me money for making commissions selling his product and now his account got frozen the week before he paid me. Its not good to store alot of money in paypal.
