PayPal Executive Eric Salvatierra Commits Suicide

Money makes things a hell of a lot easier, but it doesn't solve all your problems. There are some things people can't shake. Some negative things that success may have even brought on him.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm in no position to judge anybody. So I wont.

I thought journalists refrained from reporting suicides? They say it's "under investigation." The only way you get hit by a train is if you're trespassing or committing suicide. I doubt he's a trespasser.

As a railfan, this really upsets me. It's not fair that the crew has to be brought into this. That engineer is completely helpless when it comes to suicides. Also, since they're always the first ones on the scene, they have to administer first aid. Obviously it's usually not a pretty sight and there are a lot of gruesome stories.

Everyone who says that suicide is wrong hasn't read enough about suicide rates linked to serotonin malfunctioning. Not every genotype is built to handle all the issues that life can bring with it. I am not saying that it's right, but who are we to decide what is right and wrong for someone's life? Everyone should be able to take his own life without any further issues. While some can escape depression and life problems with booze, drugs and sex; some can't. Not everyone's brain is satisfied by the same results.

I really don't think that the VICE PRESIDENT dying will impact paypal very much. definately not to the point of a company stock crash..... I would never buy in to them anyways lol

I cant feel pitty. He was weak. Only the strong survive. Now a sad story is when a severe diabetic 19 yr old was pushed infront of a dart light rail train in south dallas and killed by a group of 14 yr olds over a fuccn ipad. Now that was sad, because he couldnt help that situation.

There is no justification, he was weak. It is what it is. No pitty. Shit my wife just gave birth to my baby #8, I dont even think of suicide, I just hustle that much harder. And although im not struggling now, I was struggling when I only had 6, but instead of giving up, I hustled and started a couple businesses. But I do pitty the family he left behind tho.

I'm an editor on Wikipedia as I am sure hundreds on this site are... it is not the Gospel.

I have a lot of disinformation on there that gets people to visit my sites and I bet that I suck in comparison to tens of thousands of others that are editors there in that regard.

Long live black hat marketing on wikipedia and other "authority" sites.

Humm, that gives me an idea but I am not sure if I can pull it off.

Still I am not sure what you meant by saving money on my slave site, since I am not the owner of wikipedia. I wish I was then I would have plastered it with adsense and made millions.

I have tried adding external links to wikipedia, but within minutes it reverts back to nothing. I should try some of the less popular articles.

There is justification. You don't seem to realize that our genetic make up decides who we are. Our height, weight, eyes, depression, anger, toe size literally everything. Some can't handle the pressure as good as you can. You seem like a fun and open person. But not everyone is like that. I had to deal with several people who did take their own lives; and there is nothing that I could have said that would have stopped them. They were simply soulless, they did not see any purpose in life; and who was I to tell them that they are wrong? You may have found purpose in life, but do you realize why? People who have low serotonin levels see and think mostly negative. This is why most of them suicide. You shouldn't call someone weak just because the chemicals in his brain weren't 'happy' as yours. After all; our lives are not worth much when you think about it. When you die, everything will be just like before you were born. Pure nothingness.

Well said, and I appreciate your oppinion as much as my own, but I have to say that despite how I appear and what you may believe, I am not naturally happy. I am bipolar, and everyone knows that most suicide cases are of the bipolar (manic depressant) nature. I don't take my meds, I just found my own way to deal with my depression. So I still don't believe in any justification.

Man thats sad. I hope his family is coping okay. I had a grandfather that passed away and even that pain was bad.

It must be super hard for his family, not to mention the shame he brought to his peers by committing suicide.

You can avoid all that stuff by flying to some desolate island and eating off the land for the rest of life if you want to avoid wife and work and driving...or go to Mexico...live on cancun the rest of your days....LOL

Why is it a shame if he has only suffered from his life? A life where you only feel negativity and suffering is not worth it. How is it hard to understand that not everyone's genetics allow one to feel happy? Just like not everyone can be a professional basketball player that is 6'11 tall.

How is it not a shame? He was suffering from his life, yeah, but in his life he had 3 baby girls, and a wife and his own family. Tell me all those people did not get affected.

Everyones genes do allow one to feel happy. Its called endorphines. Everyone secretes them.

:\ Some cultures considered it a shame to not commit suicide when you messed things up. Sometimes people get pressured into suicide or the ones they love will be punished; "honor" killing type deal. Greece, Rome, Feudal Japan, certainly various military circles.

Whole situation is a mess. I know fathers of families who killed themselves or had "accidents" for whatever reason (financial usually, if not always). I can't imagine a father in the position he was in and the success he had would kill himself because things were too hard on him all of a sudden. He worked at Goldman Sachs at 21. Then VP at ebay. Then VP at Skype. Then VP at Paypal. Not exactly the most light-hearted enterprises. This guy wasn't some down on his luck guy, he had the resources, connections, and means to get out of pretty much any hole he was in. It's a wonder as to what actually set him off.

Perhaps he didn't know methods to deal with his unhappiness and became very depressed so his natural endorphin/serotonin/dopamine levels weren't enough to allow him to deal with his problems. Chemical imbalances do exist, but they can absolutely be overcome if help is sought. This guy seems like a type A personality, and those are the ones that usually take extra risks and take on extra stress. Maybe it finally caught up to him. Maybe he was pressured.

I wouldn't say it was shameful what he did, and I'm only saying it isn't shameful because the pain of this situation is so great that embarrassment comes as an afterthought to me.

They did get affected, but why are you implying that their suffering is more important than his? Why is everyone's life so much more important than the ones who feel like taking their life? You clearly have never talked to a person that has to deal with real depression, it's like talking to a ghost. They have no life inside them left, so why not let them take their physical aspect that's left?

Please try to understand what you are saying. Seratonin are endorphins. I have pointed out above that not everyone's brain has high enough Seratonin levels to deal with issues like you have. I'm gonna hit the bed now, simply understand that not everyone is the same.

If the man indeed committed suicide.... then he was a sick man. Medically sick.

Sick people are the only ones that commit suicide.... they are sick,
they need medical help and life saving intervention.


So stop judging and have some compassion and respect for the deceased.

It's a shame he was so unhappy that his life was not worth living anymore. It's a shame that his family will go without him. Just sad.

and worst of all... it has yet to be confirmed that it was in fact a suicide.
