Anyone have a lot of experience with paypal disputes? I purchased a service and it was not as described, in the least. Opened a claim with a simple statement that the service wasn't as described. They responded pretty hostile and tried to bully into me closing the dispute out. I escalated to claim. Any ideas?

PayPal does not offer "buyer protection" on intangible sales.

Only way to win is you paid for the service using a credit/debit card (in which case you'd need to dispute the charge with the bank - NOT with PayPal).

Actually it does. Op, if it’s a digital product/service you’re going to win the dispute

Yes, in the contract I was going to get access to all of his online courses, which I never got. So I am in good shape? Any tips on what to say if they ask for more info?

Btw.. it was coaching/access to digital products... AND he never signed the contract that he sent me..

Does the person have a website? Check for his policies and get copies.
Make a PDF/screenshot out of your conversation with him attached as additional evidence.

You wanna F'k him up nice and simple, put a chargeback

i doubt if you will win this case, Paypal mostly supports sellers if you claim the dispute as "item not as described"
Please post what happens after paypal's decision.

How much the service cost you?

Go over and do charback on your card if you if you feel cheated. Even in card charback there is less chance to get back your money because they track ip, device etc used to buy if it was a regular device then chargeback will be declined. It depends on card processor.

Thanks guys.. i'm hearing and reading some conflicting things. Hopefully someone who has had a bunch of disputes will chime in.

I bought straight from my bank account via paypal, no credit card.

Just show them all the proof you have about the service and send them the logs of your convo, where the provider threatened you, i'm pretty sure, it won't look good for the provider. If you paid with PayPal using your bank account, your only chance is PayPal, because you can't do a chargeback via credit card.
You'll hear and read conflicting things, because every case is different (at least slightly). PayPal isn't a court, where they need to follow precedents. Sometimes they decide this way, other times they decide that way. Hopefully they will decide in your favor this time around. You can't do anything else than submitting all the proofs you have against the seller and hoping for the best.
If the service wasn't as described, on top of that the seller threatened you and you have proof all of this, i don't see why you couldn't win this case.

This is great advise, I would also like to add that any Ebay seller, if they are running a legitmate operation, will be wanting to keep you a happy customer. Threatening Bad ratings can really influence an Ebay sellers decision to refund you. Your last resort and only other option if you lose the dispute, is to leave the bad review and low rating for the seller, sending the message that they should think twice before doing that again.

I think you have a very good chance of winning if it was for a digital service that wasn't delivered.
Nothing is for sure though, PayPal does what it wants sometimes.

From my perpective - PayPal mostly supports buyers, btw you can call to live support by support PIN - they were allways helpfull
