Paypal Chargebacks and Negative Balance

Recently, I sold virtual goods online for $900. Like an idiot, I used Paypal. Turns out, he used fraudulent funds from someone else's account, and the funds were reversed and now I'm left with -$900 in the hole. I've decided to not pay these fees, one, because I'm strapped for cash, two, because it doesn't feel right paying these A-holes back (what a shitty company). What will happen if I leave my account with $1000 in negative balance?

I have my real information and credit card on it but no bank account. Can I ignore it without consequences? I am trying to avoid paying at all costs. I'm a minor.

You need to block your credit card, so paypal cannot take money from it and everything will be fine.
 
Then you are in trouble sorry. One thing I could not understand is the negative balance. You said that you sold something and you must have got $900 in your account. Now if your funds get reversed, you should have balance after transaction - $900 (plus some chargeback fees may be). How can you have -$900 in your account? :/ Or is there something that I missed?

What if they decide to send a collection agent or legal threats? I've heard the threats are a bunch of jumbo, but the possibility of an agent frightens me, especially because my parents don't know that i'm in the red.
 
Paypal states in their terms that they are not a bank so I would not worry about it. I would just get your creditcard canceled and get a new one. You might get some phone calls just state they have the wrong number.
 
I spent the $900. The fraud victim reversed all the transactions about 2 weeks after I sold the goods. So many people say nothing happens and you'll be fine, but some people, you for instance, say it's a big deal. I just want to know what happens.
 
Well in first world countries, it can be a trouble. Block your card to begin with. I think someone living in USA will give you a better idea on this.

Call ur credit card company tell them u want a new new number
tell them da last transaction was ffraudulently it's dat simple

I live in the USA and I have two accounts similar to yours. Except one is around $100 negative and one around $300 negative.

The one around $100 had my social security number attached. They turned the debt over to collections.

The other one I just get annoying emails and calls which I ignore.

I've never had to deal with anyone in person. As long as you didn't make the fraudulent purchase yourself and you remove all associated bank accounts/cards from your paypal account, I wouldn't expect much except a dent in your credit profile.

I'm completely innocent in this whole matter, I'm not paying in any way.
 
You are making a mistake here. The sum which had been given to him was taken back. That's done. He himself spent $900 from his paypal account. That's not anyone's fault except for himself...

Have you tried contacting paypal? Letting them know that this was a virtual good? They usually favor in your side but since it's a chargeback... it's apparently different...
 
The person I "sold" the goods to used a hacked account and fraudulently sent money. He is in the wrong, not me. This is a completely illegitimate transaction and I'm the only one getting screwed. If getting scammed is my fault, then sue me.
 
I already lost the case for the funds because they found the plead for an unauthorized transaction to be valid.
