    Basically I hate them.

I just 2 mins ago tried to order shit for my new PC build. Totalled £240.

I have £250 in paypal and don't like keeping money in there so I wanted to use that.

No matter what I seem to do I cannot actually spend that money. It asks me to use my debit card.

    The account is not limited.

The account is in perfect standing and fully verified. It's perfect.

    What the fucking fuck?

Can't help with that, but I do like your quote here - it should be the Paypal slogan.

Is your account verified ? is there any spending limit in your account ? is your account new less than 1 month old ?
You have to complete the verification steps (Add bank account + Credit or debit card + add home phone) and you will be OK but they are doing this for your security.

I have found that many sites require you to use the debit card if its a subscription type service rather than a one off payment. Is this the case?

    Never you mind.
Thats really unusual. Is it Paypal themselves saying you should pay by debit card? Or the websites? Because whenever Ive bought ANYTHING online, even if I have £0.50 in my paypal it gets minused from the whole balance and the rest retrieved from my bank account.

I hope it all gets sorted for you! Maybe phone paypal too? ...

This probably isn't useful for you but I was never able to pay ANYTHING with my PayPal balance. I just assumed that you can't use PayPal balance to pay for anything but rather that you have to use your debit/credit card to pay and then you can withdraw your balance to your bank account or vice versa (withdraw first and then spend).

Though I have read ages ago that U.S. accounts can actually use the balance to pay but it depends on the store to accept it and most stores don't accept payment with balance.

Where are you located? Maybe it's a country restriction?

I worked it out - I had the money across multiple currencies and needed to convert to 1 currency.

    Still fucking gay though.

its because your money is in euro and you want to buy things in dollar.

you need to convert it, but it sucks i agree =)

Edit: I just saw your response that you got it sorted out after typing all that. Of course you need to have one currency...

They have to take precautionary steps for people who haven't fully verified their account.

All I've heard is horror stories but I've never once had my account locked. I've never had an issue with a faulty dispute, I win those pretty easily and all the reps I've called have been helpful. I guess since I don't do much Blackhat shit or buy PP accounts, I'm less inclined to run into issues?

My account usually only gets payments of 10, 20 or sometimes 50 in there on a semi-regular basis. However, I understand there's a system for catching unusual activity or unusually large amounts of cash coming in so I wanted to test that. I had $600 come in and I wanted to see if it would lock me out but notta.

As far as your situation: I'm not sure what you expect us to really be able to do for you? It sounds like there's a spending limit on your account but if all else fails, you need to call them. They have great support if you're cooperative and the account is in fact you.

Some Sites only accept payments from CC
If you dont have a CC link in your payPal it will ask you to add one..no matter you have 250 balance or 1000 a CC will be required

Isn't there any PP alternatives? Man, everyone here has some or the other problem with them.
