Just wondering if you can provide a PayPal account (or info on how to acquire one) that does not need to wait 21 days before using funds when selling goods? How much does the account cost?
This all depends on where you sell. Normally you don't get holds if you accept payments outside of eBay. But don't quote me on that as PayPal has been known to do a full 180 on you in a matter of minutes.
In some rare instances, new accounts do not have holds on their first few payments before reaching a threshold where the holds finally kick in. But 99% of the time you're just going to have to deal with holds for 3 months. It's really not that bad. Just ship out quickly and be an overall good seller and the holds will be gone before you know it.
When the IPhone 4/4s/5 were all coming out I started flipping them on Ebay & Craigslist like they were going out of style. I realized after I received my first payment (which was my working capital) that PP was going to hold the funds 21 days, and that wasn't acceptable as it killed my opportunity to flip phones and capitalize on the market at the time. I wasn't about to lose out on the market so I cancelled the sale and began to post auctions where I stated in the selling terms of the auction that the buyer had to agree that payment would still be through PP however I would invoice them directly from my business PP account once the auction had closed.
They still had the safety of using PayPal and I had the convenience of getting paid on auction end. Ebay could suck it.
I understand the purpose in them doing that to prevent low rep sellers from scamming buyers, however on the other hand, why should I have to wait 21 days when the buyer has had time to receive the item and then pull something in return. I could potentially sell to a buyer, wait 21 days, and then not have seller protection due to the buyer not having a confirmed address or anything else they might try to scam me. Basically I was going to keep control of the deal and both parties win.
It's a 2 way road with opportunity to be taken advantage of in that situation, and i will be damned if I am going to take the chance. I was able to sell phones and work around their BS auction rules pretty well. I had no intention to do anyone wrong, I just wanted paid for the merchandise in a timely manner...and it worked.
