Been hearing too many horror stories about paypal, wherein people have lost thousands of dollars because of their stupidity of taking the side of the buyer always and not the seller. Am from India, so paypal is effectively useless as the funds in paypal cannot be used for making transactions.

Am considering authorize.net as a payment gateway for my website. I found a reseller who offers a free setup of $99. I have a few queries that need some expert advise:

1. Can funds from paypal be used by a buyer to pay into authorize.net?
2. Authorize.net just charges $.1 per transaction? Is it that cheap or am I missing something?
3. I need a gateway that is seller friendly and does not refund money like gaypal does! I know a client who lost $1000 because of a paypal dispute, and the client still had the content written for him.

Any suggestions are welcome.:o

Bump!! Anyone? Any suggestions?

Mohit.. its not just the problems Indian customers face, I'm more concerned about the illogical refund policy of pp, which can rip your business apart.

its also right well i need to dig lil on authorize.net let see wot happend

if authorize.net takes only .1 for a transaction and still accept credit cards, it's BS, because the CC company takes their cut which is a few %.

That's what I was concerned too, as it seemed too good to believe. Do you know much credit card companies charge?

How about 2co.com or alertpay. Many vendors these days use 2co and also there is plimus..

I would use Authorize.net we have used PP before it was great and all but they had a ninety day hold on all of our funds which was not cool at all. Authorize takes about .30 cents plus 3% from out transactions but there is no hold at all.

i highly suggest avoiding paypal. they are very un-reliable. i just got approved for authorize.net but havent processed any payments yet, they seem pretty good though. so i suggest going with authorize.net

i will report back here when i start processing my first payments

Plimus seems to charge a bomb at 8%-10%! 2CO seems pretty good, but I was baffled with the low pricing of Authorize.net as 10 cents...

Any other suggestions like sagepay, linkpoint etc?

Ya I've been hesitant to use Paypal due to all the horror stories with sellers accounts getting frozen or payments being put on hold due to the influx in sales.

Anyone know if upgrading to the pro merchant account makes any difference? ($30 per month)

I see Plimus is pretty popular too but their charges seem a bit steep.

with authorize.net if you already have a merchant account you can use just their gateway account.

Or if you need a merchant account they can set you up with that. You do not sign up with authorize.net you can either go to there site and fill out a form which is then sent to one of their authorized resellers that will set the account up for you.

If you go with the merchant and gateway account with them you will have a monthly fee plus a per transaction fee.

I am an authorized reseller for authorize.net so if you want to get set up or find out more info IM me and we can talk. and i can give you the ends and outs on both authorized.net and paypal.

Please drop me your slype or gtalk id so we could discuss my queries online, as I might need your help in regards to authorize.net.

Also, if I create a merchant account with Auth.net, would it be possible to receive funds from another person's paypal/moneybookers account? 2CO can do this, so just wanted to be doubly sure.

Given rep to everyone who posted on this thread.. It's a costly, yet very importance decision for my business. I need to be absolutely sure.

Any other merchant account/gateway suggestions?
