Passion matters in Blogging

In the starting years of my career, I started a blog dedicated to Hindi Cinema (Bollywood) because I felt really 'passionate' about it. I spent millions of hours in writing content myself, designing a theme myself, doing SEO (with whatever knowledge I had that time), creating and managing social media, etc. - all without doing a fundamental research that this niche is oversaturated and does not have even quality audience with buying intent!

I ended up with a wonderful website built out of 'passion' with 'zero' revenue.

Fast forward 2022, I own a handful of websites from niches that I don't even love to talk about, all content outsourced with carefully chosen niches, earning decent money by ads and affiliates.

Lesson Learned. Period.
 
If you want to treat your websites as a business, being passionate doesn’t help at all.

If you’re planning to to all the work yourself, you’re just getting another “job”.

The best part about making money with websites imo is that everything can be outsourced and you don’t need to spend your time if you don’t want to.

This is absolutely true.

Passion does matter.

But just sharing from personal experience, passion tends to run out as well.

You can only run on fumes for so long.

What works for me is motivation.

What motivates me?

My kid.

I want my kid to grow up to have the opportunities I didn't have growing up.

And every time he hugs me, that is the motivation I need for several months going forward.

So when you focus on "why," the "how and what" fall into place.

It also helps to stay motivated by using the right metrics for success.

When I discover something new, whether in the context of achievement or failure, I get excited because I didn't know it before.

This mindset also helps me stay motivated.

A dose of passion is good, but following your passion blindly is bad. You need to write what your readers want to read.

Nowadays, Passion won't help to get revenue only motivation alone. But it fades away soon.

Only circumstances alone help you most probably trending one will boost your revenue which will develop the motivation.
By using this, you will invest in passion niche if you are really passionate.

Yep! When times are tough, we need someone on our side to motivate us!
 
Nice post .Well this its the key ,i know majority of big business blogs start as a passion blog
 
You can write on interesting topics yourself, but for a blog that doesn’t care so much, hire a person
