Paraphrasing SEO to new website (Seeking Real-world Experience)

Hi there,

I have a website that got hit by the March 2024 Google update. One strategy I'm going to implement is keep the old site live but re-use the content by paraphrasing it...

Has anyone got experience with doing this and to what extend should you adjust the content for Google to not see it as duplicate?

What about images?

Any advice on doing this process successfully would be hugely appreciated.

If the site is hit then Google has blacklisted the domain.
So its the domain that got problem.
You can check this by creating a few new articles and indexing them. Then see if they rank for any keywords.
If they don't them the domain is toasted.
Paraphrasing the articles will not help in that case.
If your are able to rank new articles then go ahead with the rest of the articles.

It's an algorithmic penalty. It's not deindexed nor does it have manual penalty. I'm not sure if this s is still the case. I still have articles ranking buts 98% drop in traffic
 
Sites hit by March update don't rank but do get indexed.
So check out if you can still rank.
 
I'm sure its not de-indexed nor does it have manual penalty. I am just capped at around 1000 total impressions a day.

But my questions isn't around this. Looking to utilize the content somewhere else without another penalty
 
If you rewrite the content properly - then it will work - so just rewrite prompt will not work. Just add some more content to the new page. The main thing is not to link anything between the two pages, especially no redirects.

bringing it back would be hard but try to get quality content and ensure the content and pages gets index then work over the site .
 
if you got hit hard by google you might be can try to 301 your site to different domain with same name but different TLD
 
maybe some of your popular pages lost ranking due to other factors not a panalty, that would explain the traffic loss. usually when there is a penalty on the site, nothing will rank anymore.
as for paraphrasing, sure you can re-use the content on a different site and see how it goes. it can def work. re-using images isnt a huge problem, but original ones are usually better.
you can change the signature of the images though or slightly modify them.

Paraphrasing the content on a penalised domain, will likely not work. However, this used to work back in the days where changing the url structure works.

When you reuse stuff from your old site, give it a good makeover so Google doesn't think it's just a copy-paste job. And yeah, tweak the pictures too!
