Panic Disorder sucks

Sorry to hear fella

my ex missus had too

and the script med sucks...

How's the monkey?

Not talking to anyone in particular but please be v careful stopping taking meds. Of course its best not to be taking meds but sometimes its for the best. Also so called natural remedies are not always safe so be careful. I have filled my system with chemicals of every hue both legal and otherwise cos I suffered from stress panic attacks etc and all id say is just do anything (like stopping meds) gradually within a safe environment. I am clean as a whistle these days and it sucks ass sometimes but even when I am feeling shit at least its really me. But the main thing i've learnt is to be mega careful telling anyone what to do all I know is whats best for me and I did not know that for years and years.
Good luck Harro thing to remember is that the human brain like any other part of the body does eventually get better all by itself and one day you wake up and wonder what all the fucking fuss was about.

I've also had panic attacks/anxiety disorders..

It really, really sucks...

I found it quite funny if any other user posted this s/he would be flamed from the thread.

I don't know. This hits close to home for A LOT of people. I started getting them (couldn't breathe when I had to present to customers - and I had been presenting for 20 years without problems) and cured them short-term with meds, but it's better to find a long-term solution without meds, as others have said.

I worked with a psychologist who helped me to imagine how good I would feel AFTER the situation that gave me panic attacks. It took a while, but it worked for me!

Keep the faith.

Sorry to hear that man. Just try to relax and do what the doctor says

i doubt it. BH'ers tend to flame stupidity, ignorance and failure to use the search button, not others' misfortunes.

I dont know ur comprehensive situation, but from what u tell, maybe u need some antidepressant because thats not just panic involved. I also recommend u to read some spiritual books like taoism. Do not drink too much or drink too much coffee.
because i know much of medicine and pharmacology(thats my major, i know every drugs and I have worked in the hospital for 2 years)
If u have any questions, just pm me, I would like to help u (totally free, no products to sell, i promise, lol)

Sorry to hear that bro. Coping with any type of phobias is a life-long process.

I've read some opinions about this, and found this tip to be the one that makes sense the most.

The sufferers should 'ride out' the anxiety until it passes. "You can't stop it once it starts," says Jerilyn Ross. "It just has to run its course. Just keep telling yourself it's frightening, but it's not dangerous. It's going to pass."

Melvin Green, likens the attack to a small wave that can be seen approaching a beach. "This represents your initial feelings of anxiety," he says. "As the wave approaches land it grows larger and larger. This represents your feelings of anxiety growing. Soon the wave is very large and peaks. It then flows down into a smaller and smaller wave until it disperses on the beach. This image represents the start and finish of the anxiety attack." Green says that sufferers should not fight the feelings but flow with them until they pass.

Hope that helps.

If you suffer from social anxiety, its because you're thinking too much of yourself. Social anxiety can be beat within seconds. It's all about your state of mind. I know this because I had social anxiety. I would freeze up and not be able to talk at all. Realize you're just another human being, and so is everyone else. You crave for the attention but can't get it because you are UNCAPABLE of getting it. Contribute to any conversation. Whether you fuck up or not by saying the wrong thing, in the end...Time is too short to have any anxiety about something so small and petty. Be above other human beings, not below them. When you sit their like a quiet bitch, you put yourself below them.

BELIEVE me, your anxiety is a result of overthinking about yourself, and what others may think of you. I don't care what anyone says, its because their too caught up with themselves rather then listening to what others have to say. Listen, ask questions, respond..just try for christ sakes.

Harro how many hours a day would you estimate you spend on a computer?

I agree with some parts in this.

Overthinking...

When I overthink, I just lose it.

Sometimes I make sure I've done everything on my IM checklist for the day. Then sometimes I'll overthink it and say "did I really do everything?" I ask myself this like 5 times, then I think "hey, maybe I should change it up a bit" and Ill search BHW and look for some nice twists, then i'll say "Hmm... I think I can go with another method.."

Before I know it, 3 hours have passed, and nothing has been done.

When I wake up the next morning, I realized that nothing needed to be changed and everything was fine the way it is.

Life is too short to overthink and overcontemplate.

I find that socializing is a great way to overcome this.

Whenever I come back home from the movies or hanging out with friends, I just stay away from the computer. It's weird. It's like I want to stay in the outside world.

Next day, I'm attached to it. Being my lonely, average, normal, meaningless everyday human being.

Cognitive behavioral therapy works. It basically just involves working out why you have anxiety and sorting out this anxiety to prevent the panic attacks from occurring.

I used to smoke and found that that worked great as well. Not that I suggest picking up the habit.

I basically just repeated the activity that caused me anxiety, and then eventually I wasn't anxious about it. Most of it is situational.

Taking walks can help too if you start to feel anxious.

Sorry to hear about that as I have suffered from them since I was 6. I know meds and cbt and exercise work and especially exercising can release endorphins in the brain which will start to build up nodes. Stuff is to complex and not helpful but I was just rambling on but the brain is interconnected and the experiences of the projected stressing stimuli prevents us from moving forward as it can have physiological affects. It makes connections with situations and people. Breathing exercises help a lot and just realize that alcohol or other substances will only mask the problem and not help it. I have my pys degree and I can help others but helping myself is the hardest thing. Hang in there, if you believe in a higher being that always helps and always see a doctor first about this stuff. I do remember you saying you quit smoking cigarettes so that could also have triggered something but of course no one will know. I would take a piece of paper and write down every time you have an attack and put down what triggered it. This could give you some insight as to what is causing it and how differently you may go about the situation. I think someone touched on it when they talked about exposure therapy which is when you put yourself in the situation and tell yourself what is the worst possible thing that can happen. You will find it works better than any med. Feel better and keep your head up.

I suffer from it and its back to its fullness again.

Sucks big time :S

*hands harro a valium* there there dear, come play evil games with me some more and forget about the rest of the world, ill make u forget about annoying people ;)

@Harro

Im a psychology student and have done much research on this issue.Just to share some ideas you can do.

Basically, you should ask yourself how long did u have such disorder. What causes it, stress, life event or so on. If you have such disorder for more than two years,it means things are getting severe and you should hit a counselor or a psychologist.

They will probably treat you with psychotherapy which varies. Some may be just dialogues and even hypnosis. The main focus is interaction and finding the problem in our brain known as id in psychology terms.

Never go for drugs known as anti depressants.Drugs are not the only solution.Besides, you will be dependent on drugs as time pass.Drug is not the BEST solution.

Consider having more interaction with friends and families.Tell them about your feelings and problems.Sex is another alternative too.

Take a rest and consider holidays.Releasing your stress and hectic work would be a good way to handle panic disorder.

Considering a situation that causes panic disorder,a good way would be conditioning. For this you need to find out what worries you and what causes your panic disorder. For example, you have fear on dark. You try to condition yourself in dark.

Reduce on substance such as drugs, alcohol, cigarettes and caffeine. This might help a little.

Lastly, the best solution is still to meet a qualified psychologist or a counselor for their professional opinions.

Good luck.

Just wanted to say this right here. Specifically the part where I Figure out my triggers. and pretty much condition myself to them is what had gotten me over my panic disorder. I've gotten a couple attacks where they lasted 9months to a year straight. this was from when I 1st woke up till I went to bed. but, yeah facing my triggers and conditioning myself to them is what got me over it.

I know exactly what your going through. Don't leave the house I'm going to make an ass out of myself. What are people friends going to think. Am I going to throwup in the car. Let me tell you feel trapped. It for me was a low self confindence problem. This is a natural defense mechanism in which you need to cope. Just know you can leave any time to get yourself togrther. If you need altogther then just leave. You can make the choice.

Harro, I suffered from this too, I used to be epileptic when I was a child as I entered puberty the epilepsy went away the only thing i was left with was panic attacks every now and then. Heres the rules I need to play by in order to not get another panic disorder.

0% caffiene, No Caffeine at all. If I want energy I eat good foods and I run every morning to give me a boost that lasts all day.

and the main thing that I drink is Natures Way Ex-Stress because it has skullcap in it. That repairs brain neurons and rewires the brain for efficiency. Take it for a full month straight and you'll probably not have that again.

Avoid pharmaceutical drugs, They are ment to treat , not cure. You want to cure it , not treat it.
