I have seen some up some down, just normal fluctuation... I think if your link building is as diverse as it should be this kinda stuff doesn't really affect you. I didn't see anything on the original Panda either and I have plenty of 100% duplicate content auto blogs.

It is a matter of position changing. As some sites are dropping some are going up, filling their positions. It is an ongoing battle.

The truth is that the google algo thing will never be perfect. That is why autoblogs will still continue to rank and continue to serve as money machine for many people. 
So any rhyme or reason of who gets shifted down and who gets shifted up? Anyone can pinpoint what exactly Google is liking and what they are not? Is it more unique conyent on site and just diverse links rhat will help right now. I can't figure why some of my sites get hit and others don't. I follow the same onsite and offsite SEO for all of them. Anyone has any feedback.

Number 5 to number number 515, same happened to a number 1 ranking keyword.

Yes. That's true. Things get easier with unique content. However, you should also not forget backlink building

But all my sites have unique content and still got hit. In fact some of the sites that moved from page 1 to page 5 have now disappeared all together. Still indexed, but not in the first 15 pages of the SERPs.
So has anyone been able to improve their rankings after being dropped with either changing onsite content or getting more high quality backlinks?

Yes and yes - although I think what helped was more a matter of changing backlink positioning/text to try to make it a little more unique from site to site. (And I removed all intertwined footer links as well.) Some backlink runs seemed to help somewhat.
But I added new blogs with tons of unique posts on some sites - new pages with unique content on others - and they either didn't help, or actually seemed to hurt in a couple of cases.
So I think all of that means....I have no idea, either. I just changed some stuff, changed some stuff back...and some sites came back and some sites sank. Wish I could actually help
I have had some sites affected as well. I feel that Google has likely identified sites which post articles, whether unique, spun, or duplicate and has lowered the weight they have given these sites in the past, this in turn lowers the weight they give to the links within the articles posted by authors. Many of the sites that I only used article backlinking dropped several hundred pages while other sites that I did a mixture of commenting, article links, and profiles on were either not affected or only slightly affected. By reducing the weight they assign to article links, the less effort webmasters will put into them, thus reducing the amount of content spam.
While this is only a theory, I feel that based on what I have seen Google wants unique content on your site and in what you produce and distribute across the web and definitely no posting duplicate articles around the web.
I remember a time when web directories were all the craze, until Google diminished the value of the links from these directories. Once this value was diminished many webmasters stopped producing them.

My main money site dropped from nr 2 or 3 to the last link on page 1

Anyway, just wanna say that after the little Google slap, my site moved up one place. Meanwhile, I'm still producing web2.0 links.

Tough to tell since I was in the middle of three different and complex link building campaigns, but around the 19th I saw an increase in 5 very competitive keywords, two of which just got my rankings back to where they were before April.
Now, i'm seeing 3 of those keywords fall back to where they were before Panda 2.2 and two of those have fallen below where i was.
