Hello BHW?

I have been knowing that to have pagerank you need backlinks right?
Then what if there is pagerank for some website who have very low backlinks.

poonainteriorprojects.com - 4 Backlinks - Domain age 18 years
shenglitel.com - 5 Backlinks - Domain age 18 years

I think the factor which is working here is domain age? What's your say?

N/A is generally for brand new sites. So yeah would get PR 1 with age.

Agree with Alkanphel, Very few backlinks but a very old domain will = PR 1

PR1 is not that hard to get. It also depends on the each site backlinking to the site in question. Could be 5 very low value site's with not much link juice to give or could be 4 no value sites and one somewhat decent site driving the PR1.

Page rank has nothing to do with age or the amount of backlinks. Google just doesn't turn around one day and say, "hey, your ten today. Heres a page rank one for you." You could have 1,000 backlinks and be a PR0. One PR5 backlink from a site automatically means that every site it links to automatically become a PR3. Basically, it's down to the quality of the backlink.

Domain age is very important when we considered about advanced SEO :D

Yeah I think this is the one of main reason behind pagerank.

Domain age is an important factor for page rank. The older domain means that the site is more trustworthy.

Oh my goodness. Pagerank has nothing to do with anything except backlinks. Not age, not how pretty you make your site. Only backlinks. Some links are more valuable than others, so very few of them are needed to get PR1. It's really not that hard to get. You can get PR2 with very few backlinks as well.

Exactly the factor of such websites having more domain age. There is no need of huge amount of backlinks. It is most probably that these websites are related to public relations where visitors come in huge amount. But domain age is biggest factor of high ranking.

My mate has a site ranked no.1 that he bought in May and he has nothing but good high PR backlinks on there and he is still PR0.

He has another site ranked 3 for the same keyword also from May and it is PR0.

Domain age, content, design, On-Page Optimization and some other factors may also affect the PR of the domain and not just the backlinks.

I have an online store since april, made about 2000 backlinks i rank my kws on 1st page google localy and the page rank is still n/a. Is that ok or whats happening ?

nope. pr gets diveded between the links a page has, and there is some dilution.

So if a pr5 links to 10 different sites, then each may get pr1 max, not pr3.

i have a 2 month old domain, pr2 and very few backlinks, but those links all come from pr5+

its about quality

badboyseo and treeofl1 know what they are talking about:

From wikipedia:

"The formula uses a model of a random surfer who gets bored after several clicks and switches to a random page. The PageRank value of a page reflects the chance that the random surfer will land on that page by clicking on a link."

i.e. the number of links increases the likely hood that a random surfer will land on a page thus higher pagerank.

You could argue that content and design have an indirect impact on pagerank as the better these are the more likely a person is to create a link, but its not a guarantee of better pagerank.
