Over Optimization Penalty Launched Today

That's exactly what google wants to hear :)
Yes, it is. But I was going to do it, update or not. SERPs aren't reliable long term, as I said. SEO also takes too long.

Whether you are doing what G wants to hear or not, there is a point at which the ROI of SEO becomes so small that it's not viable to generate a significant income. In the old days you could turn on Scrapebox, blast once and rank like magic for loads of keywords, with shit content. That's a good ROI. It's getting increasingly difficult. Once my automation tools no longer work, I will not entertain SEO as the ROI would not be worth it for me. My SEO budget for each site is 50 bucks, I get a good ROI with automation. Fuck paying overpriced SEO companies thousands of dollars to do SEO on a site, whether the links are "good quality" or not. This is a business. I don't care about ranking no 1 for my ego, I just want the money.

Similarly, while I do hate Google and Matt Cunts, I wouldn't avoid Adwords just to spite them. If I can get a good ROI from it and make big profits with it, the only loser would be me if I did not use it just to spite Google. (It wouldn't make a difference to them). Furthermore, Google is not the only provider of paid traffic, there are loads of sources.

I am finding the same with some of my sites.

Rankings for my main KW have dropped but the page that now ranks is not the "right one".

Seems to me that the Penguin update included a mix of both off page and on page over optimisation.

Could also explain some of the general uproar with this update from so called "white hatters" - they probably still used a lot of on-page optimisation as that is considered white hat?

Take a look at some of the sites now ranking for your KW - what does the on-page SEO look like? The ones I have checked look pretty poor - like they haven't done any on-page optimisation and yet they are now ranking high.

Maybe this is the "levelling of the playing field" MC was talking about??

dog training #60 - www.freedogtraining.com/Faq.aspx WTF??? - used to be like #5 and my main domain
Do you want to hear something more depressing? A site that has been around for years. Say the site name was bigbluetoys.com and you were on the first page for blue toys for years. It's part of the domain name. You get deindexed for blue toys. Just shoot me.

The only thing this update made me do was to still do Seo, but diversify it with Paid traffic but not with google.

and the 1st small test I did spent 9$ made 76$. So i think may be on to something here. So thanks google!

Seems like most people have either had some decent gains or been completely dropped in the rankings... what kinds of links were you building?

spun content links (web 2.0 pyramids etc)... funny thing is when panda hit my site gained everywhere so i just kept on going. now with this new update i've been raped lol...

Has it actually been deindexed as in site:http://www.sitename.com does not appear in google results or is it just not in the SERPS at all? Either way sorry to hear!

Looks like positions are dancing heavily now. I continue checking for keywords. Domain starts dropping out of top 1000, then appearing at #19, then at #203, then again drop. Rankings change each minute. Each serp checkers show different results. Strange thing is going on.

To all of you people posting Google is free to use and they can do anything they want with their algo...

It's free to use, but they have life of millions of people in their hands, they can't do anything they want... Of course, you should not rely only on Google, but most people will rely, when people see that their business is going great in Google for about 5 years, they will never think that in one day Google will just bitch slap them and replace their authority sites with spammy shitty sites.

I'm really sorry for all you guys who have families to feed or loans to pay... I lost most of my money making sources but it's somehow good for me - today I started testing facebook and hopefully I will forget the most evil company in this world "Google" and hope Matt or anyone who made this algo change will suffer for destroying people's lives. Nothing remains unpunished, you make bad things- it will return back to you sooner or later, you make good things - it will return back to you too.

I have those advertising top lights on my three taxis. Anyone want to chip in for an ad for Yahoo and Bing?

Yahoo &Bing "cuz Google results just suck now"

Say I won't do it...go ahead say it.

My sites are all in the same position, except two sites that were rank very well for a competitive keywords.

My method of linkbuilding are always the same, so I think this algorythm is making damage only for competitive keywords.

If you type "viagra" in google .it you will see very strange serp.

I see serp changing every hour, I think new algo is making order. Probably next week we could see again serp more related to what we are searching

Sorry, deindexed was a poor choice of words. I was in a tizzy before. The last two words in my domain name went from page 1 in the serps to gone altogether. Thank you for your kind words.

I agree - Karma's a bitch. Matt Cunts' square head may be laughing now but he has ruining countless families' lives on his back in favor of large corporations such as amazon, walmart, sears, bestbuy, etc. He may still not care as he sees some families struggle to feed their kids, have to go on welfare, lose their homes etc. You could say that they are naive to have relied on Google, and that would be correct, but most normal people are reasonably trusting. It's outside of their reality for a site which is stable at X position for years to suddenly be wiped out one day for apparently no reason. Once you get a SERP in the same position for about 6 months, you start to take it for granted, and assume it's there for good. Many families would have built their businesses around their stable rankings. So it's naive, yes, but not unreasonable and they are not to blame. Matt Cunts and his square headed pals are to blame for this, and the universe will balance it out one day. There's no need to sign petitions or complain or actually do anything against Google or Matt Cunts, because karma takes care of itself. I hope those nerds sleep well, because I wouldn't if I had ruined as many lives as they have!

Exactly!

Google probably wanted to wipe-out affiliates and info content marketers in commercial niches. This update so has given too much emphasis on domain authority.

I guess , according to google the affiliates info marketers and adsense publishers are the ones who create most of the spammy content. So they probably picked the niches where most affiliate marketers are working.

Is there anyone here who runs small eCommerce shop in non-affiliate niches got hit?

My sites that got hit are not in affilate niches (local tourism), I have no external links and no ads but got hammered.
