Over Optimization Penalty Launched Today

What you think guys, good idea to start a brand new website at this moment? Try avoid using link building and see if content alone ranks?

So it doesnt appear that any of my sites have been hit. Or if they were hit they werent hit very hard. For the past couple of weeks Ive been using backlinksgenie AND Dripable.

My question is do I stop those campaigns or keep them going? I have paused the blog comment backlinking and Xrumer for now. My sites are all several years old. I would rather not continue this path if they are going to be penalized for it.

Damn! I see a bookmark that is linking to my site rank higher than my site...

Ladies and gentelemen, there is absolutely NO WAY that this new "Panda refresh" will last in its current form.

I'm finding a shit-ton of parked domains ranking on the first page after this new refresh. We aren't talking about recently re-renewed domains either, we are talking about permanently parked/squatted domains.

I know Matt talked about how they had a bug with their parked domains bot, and had to undo some things, but this just doesn't make sense. There's no way this is going unnoticed at the big G.

And there speaks the voice of reason.

Other forums are also in a panic but some truly remarkable things are happening in the SERPS at the moment.

One guy demonstrated this by showing a medical keyword phrase and the #2 result in Google is a "leadership coaching2 website with ZERO relevance to the keyword and I mean Z E R O.

when the real goal is to protect Big Inc. getting the top rankings, while making everybody else dependent on Adwords to get a top spot.
Yes I totally agree with this, It is there underground strategy IMO , Even when i am searching i could see big brands like amazon ebay , I have hit hard with this my site was on 3rd position and now where in 100

How about we start a BHW search engine and we rank all the members #1 for their keywords? Haha.

I am not sure on this, but I found all my unaffected sites have the following
1. high deep linking vs homepage link ratio. Number of backlinks on inner links are higher than number of banklinks on homepage.
2. not much seo promotion lately , just social bookmarking.

How about you guys?
about deep linking....
25 client's sites still ranking the same with absolutely no deep linking on them
(but...11 of those sites have over 600 pages of unique content and dmoz links, the client's target site is deep linked to hell and back by those sites, and it still ranks even higher, i doubt deep linking is a factor based on this info)

the other 20 sites are still ranking the same (if not moved up) and have deep linking, and have direct sb blasts
so that isn't a factor (hell, 8 of them are akismet blacklisted and still ranking so that's got nothing to do with it either)

of those 20 that have deep linking, 10 are campaigns that have been running all month this month and last month
the other 10 are about 2-6 months old with no links made between then and now
(i did shuffle my blogroll links network wide though as the update was rolling out)

i had nothing drop in ranking

what i never did was...
i never utilized public blog networks
i never used xrumer or forum posts or profiles
i never used unreadable posts
none of these sites run ads

I'm just adding things as I discover them: Out of all my sites (50+) the only sites still on page one are 4 .infos

Many keywords I'm noticing (niche) have sites with absolutely no content ranked. Sites that are randomly linking to bookmarks with a lot of tags, or sites that are a few years old but aren't relevant at all!

Several sites I've had have tanked while some sites where I didn't bother putting up any content — there is a default WP installation — are ranking. Wow.

check your anchor texts.

if you link too much with keywords you have been hit by the penguine update.

try to build links with your url as anchor

White hat site down, spam sites unchanged... Interesting that Yahoo owned company is worst off with all this. Google companies are Up of course. Could just be they are optimizing for themselves and its no more scientific than that. They obviously need more money what with all the law suits they're fighting.

One of my remaining sites that actually rose up to page 1 on the 24th has now dropped to page 3 within the last hour.

Anyone else seeing any movement?

Yes things still dancing around, had a category page ranking #4 for a keyword the home page used to rank for, now dropped out of the top 100 again. One or two things coming back a bit.

It'll probably take a few more days to a few weeks for everything to settle down. It'll take time.

Some of my sites that got -100 ranked have been slowly climbing and or blinking in/out of the first page while others weren't hit and are going higher as well.

Just a heads up: every site I blasted directly with No Hands SEO was severely affected or kicked out of the index completely, and it seems to be in proportion to the percentage of those links that were from that program.

The ones whose links profiles were from web2.0/articles/SBM/profiles seem to be OK.
