BTW the amount of pages a site has has zero to do with its helpfulnesses..The ideal "how to tie a tie" or how to change a tyre website (or most other "how to" sites and review also) has one page with like two vids..

Its true to say that most of us are still analysing the data and have yet to come to any firm conclusions around any patterns in this pathetic attempt at improving the serps quality. A number of my thinner sites which are aged (2+ years) with EMD have seen huge drops so I am not convinced that indexed pages make much difference. The sites which have dropped have had link building done over the past 6 months or so but nothing extra ordinary, mainly web 2.0's and the odd blog network submission. None of the dropped EMD's had more than 200 links.

I have a couple of authority sites (5+ years) with nothing but unique and non-optimised content. These sites have 150+ articles and I have never done any link building to them......they have all seen increases in rank for a whole host of terms. My gut feel at the moment is this is primarily relating to links, anchors and diversity.

If we recall a few weeks ago they (gutless wanks from G) stated they were 'turning down' the anchor text attribute since they think they can get the same information from 'other sources'. I think this may also contribute to reduction in link building effectiveness. I have started a few new websites post this shit and will be using nothing but naked urls and brand terms in my link building.

If they have turned down the power of anchor texts you then have to question how else would they draw the same information. My view (currently) is that they will be drawing ?relevance? (which is effectively what anchor text was doing) from the page the link is sitting. This would be done through analysis of the page content, url and incoming links itself. This means (if I am anywhere near right) that links need to be coming from good quality ?relevant? pages and can now contain no anchor text within them. We shall have to see if it works??.

My sites are doing worse everyday

I would like to know lost of sites of Major "seo experts" such Dan Thies, Andy Jankings Brad Falon and Rand Seomoz have.

I am interested to learn if their rank got decreased.

Wow 15k? Really? All these huge money making sites we've never heard about going down the tubes.

Well I wasn't making 15k from one of my sites but its interesting to see that on a very low competition key word this morning where I was previously #1 the results are as follows -

1# A blog that doesn't look relevant from the description and doesn't even load (service 503 unavailable)
2# Another page from the same blog (which off course doesn't load-service 503 unavailable)
3# An unrelated video on a 'similar' topic
4# An old forum thread about my site
5# A private blog network post I wrote linking back to my site with the key word

and so on and so on.

So far my thoughts -

1#+2# Google obviously is not too worried about page load speeds
3# Its not bothered about relevancy of results
4# Its not worried about recent information as there are far new forums threads
5# It also does not seem to worried about 200 word private blog posts

I'm sure it will all come out in the wash so to speak but can't believe that this is it.

I think this is the key point and why so much anger. I'm Grey hat, absolutely, and quite happy to serve any penalty and adapt, but the crux is that from an objective point of view the results are worse than useless at the moment. If this is the 'new world' of search its an EPIC FAIL for Google right now.

I know nobody can say this for sure. But after the latest update, what do you guys suggest how many % you let your main keywords return in your articles? Not the traditional 3-5% but maybe less now?

I would say 1% keyword and 1% LSI keyword.

All most all the images I have a ranking up top in images.google.com for their respected keywords. Also been noticing a shit ton of youtube vids coming up in search results. Well I went from #2 to #10. But today I'm back on #4. So there's hope for anybody out there

Are these updates not usually the same? Some go down, some go up, some dance around, etc?

I'm interested to know the types of sites where people have lost rankings, I had 2 sites that dropped a lot and they are product specific that have many different types of the same type of products but then I have sites that have many different types of products which gained places. Nearly every site that people have shared on the webmaster blog or on other posts about penguin seem to be the same with lots of links with the same word like Life Fitness Treadmills, LifeSpan Treadmills, LiveStrong Treadmills, Nautilus Treadmills etc. When I look at my 2 that dropped I am definitely guilty of this.

Its pointless to analyze the google change... Why? cause many search results turn up SHIT like 503'2 or pages with NO useful content. That means that google will fix that, they are smart enough that this would cause many users to switch to bing etc if they wont...

Long story short, get out in the sun, chill, come back in a few days/weeks when google provides useful results, and THEN analyze what changed...

or be smart and don't rely only on google for traffic anymore

What if I will remove all my onpage seo?

I've done similar linking on a bunch of sites (blog network supported by No Hands SEO & BMD). Out of 6 sites that I've finished rank reports, 5 went up, 1 went down. The 1 that went down has a plugin that turns search phrases into tags. Results in 30 or more tags, most have only the one post. All the tags were indexed & I think that may have been the cause of the drop.

Fixed it & hopefully that causes my rankings to come back. Time will tell.

Anyone seeing more traffic coming in from Bing/Yahoo without any change in rank? I think I am but can't be sure yet.
