Over Optimization Penalty Launched Today

i can't believe this is all about backlinks

Me neither. I believe it is semantic backlinking and on site semantic signals.

@Kegnum : Hehe, well it remains an absurd results. So authority 404 error pages are ranking well ? :p

@OP : Ok, i have redirect 301 the old penalized page to a brand new one with the same content, i have pinged the old page and looking forward the results.

when Panda first hit, rankings floated all over the chart for a couple of days before settling down.

I think it's better to let things settle down for a couple of days, doing nothing or looking for alternative sources of traffic, and then look at what the first ranked sites have in common and copy it.

I got slapped around but most of my sites are intact. It stings, but holy moses some of my competitors got absolutely WRECKED. The top 10 in all my niches is completely upside down for the most part.

I've got a LOT of sites (mine and clients) that are on the first page and haven't been effected... however the one's that HAVE been effected seem to have one of two things in common... 1. They were HEAVILY scrapeboxed in the past or 2. They were heavily social bookmarked

If ScrapeBox and/or SB's are the problem that is seriously scary. It will take about $5 for one of my competitors to destroy my websites.

Had you done this on the update 2 weeks ago, your site would now be in the gutter along with every other SEO'd site... so no, I advise against this

I'm seeing sites with a ton of image backlinks ranking right now...

An EMD that was ranking for, quite honestly, one of the highest profit jewels in the SEO world was sold early 2011 for ~$150,000 it was EMD.com and hadn't had a lot of links to it, this niche turned into a hugely popular one this last year.

This site invested at least $80,000 in late 2011 alone ranking #1 and staying there for a wide variety of terms. It's gone... off the map.... ranked below sites with 1 backlink to them.

Site was previously doing somewhere in the range of $40k/day in profit by my guess...

Lets SB google.com so it wont show up if we google, google.. We must kill google.

I got many ranks down in Google even not in Search Engines anywhere. Now the question is whats the solution for get again rankings. Can I expect we never use any black hat strategies.

Well, so far the update has its ups and downs for me.. Though I think Google is trying to screw with me, or at least taunt me into submission. A few of my mini authority sites pertaining to greyhat backlinking programs/keywords/tutorials went up in rankings quite a bit. lol.

Seeing some EMDs that were highly optimized are getting hammered - however local places seems to be an exception. (if the site isn't showing up in places it is down though).

A few case study sites that got huge scrapebox AA blasts are gone now - including some negative SEO tests I did. Anyone else seeing the hammer fall for SB blasts?

A few of my EMD's were hit but they were bound to hit sooner or later as I've kept CTRtheme on them with a double-block at the top. I was just trying to get as much out of them as I could. (Though odd, as I still have quite few of my EMD's still with the theme are strong and the only difference was that I've been backlinking a lot more slowly and not reinforcing tiers with scrapebox/xrumer --- could be a coincidence?).

Many of my sites are still holding strong. Though I guess it could be about time for me to expand my collection. The only problem is... I can't remember what I did to them. I'll try to run some tests once the dust settles.

Jonathan Leger the maker of TheBestSpinner had a good observation from the last Google update

The worst case scenario is that a blogspot with no content rank high in first page for keyword "make money online".

Guys, this is a complete BS! One of my most quality sites are gone from the serps! I have written all of the articles manually, after a lot of research and some of them are more than 1000 words. This is the highes quality site I have ever made, and now some spammy names show for this kyword! Soon, nobody will use this search engine...

For me, one keyword ranked position 2 and now 8, another ranked position 2 and now on page 4 or so... sigh......

This has made the whole ball game unpredictable. I was expecting sites to go down but somehow most of my sites went up the rankings. Seems like what Google is trying to do is make the game more and more unpredictable, so that there is no 1 certain guaranteed method that would get you to page 1.

yes, I've just checked and that blogspot does not even have a complete header title. This update is BS

LMAO, bet the guy who owns the blogspot, hasn't the slightest clue that he could be making bank overnight.

My sites got thrown around like crazy. One keyword I was ranking #4 (it has ~400k local monthly searches) I am now down to #50 for.

You could see my site was very over optimized though, with almost every single title/url on the site having the ranking keyword in it I'm not surprised I got hit so hard.

So I've completely redone all titles to remove the ranking keyword, redid the categories (also filled with keywords) and changed the permalink structure from /2012/04/post to /post/. Just got done adding 200+ 301's to my htaccess.

I've been meaning to do it for a while, I just hope doing directly after the update isn't going to penalize me.

Going to keep it business as usual with link building and adding content. I will be sure to update if I see any interesting results.

I am probably going to do something similar with my sites that were hit. Also, I'll finally get rid of CTRtheme and Seopressor, I guess. >.<

I just cant figure out why the heck my site with diverse links got hit when my heavily spammed site is now ranking better than ever on first site when few days ago it was still at ~+-#300....
If you spam alot, you can reverse the effects? lmao.
