To all you SEO experts, i need some advice here

Im about to start up in a new niche and there is only one main competitor. They have been in the scene several years. I ran their site through Semrush and got this info on their backlinks.

These are a few of the top DR links

And, heres where the bulk of their links are from

So, my questions are

1. How would you rate this from an SEO standpoint?
2. Can i easily compete against them?
3. If yes, what would be the best approach?

Any input is welcomed at this point.

Thanks in advance

It shows the site has been making money for years and also doing the right thing to stay on top of things to have such a diverse and powerful inbound links.

That wouldn't deter me anyway.

If I were you I will pick my keywords and run them on semrush to know their respective competition.

If most of the terms are over 76 on semrush competition I will stay away from it if I don't have a long term goal (6 months+) and monthly budget of $3,000.

If they are low than 76 - 65 which I doubt then you have a relatively easy to knock market.

The best approach still remains getting links from where your top competitors are getting and adding your own unique networks.

If you want to make it easy for you, build your brand and reputation and the big sites will probably give you those links for free.

You don't necessarily need to beat your competitor, I am happy to be on 2nd position in some niches. Plus you can beat that easily with the proper setup.

@john1444 @Nut-Nights Thanks for your insight.

Im happy to be second, as long as im on page one tbh. Any suggestion on keywords? At the moment, when i run the comp through GKP, the results im getting look like brands or irrelevant jargon

This is a very superficial approach, you should give this a read, it'll help you. Some tools may not work anymore but the concept remains the same.
