Opinions on Palemoon?

So I set up about 20 Palemoons on a computer running 40 browsers. The other 20 are Firefox.

It ran almost all day yesterday, and today the PC restarted about 30 minutes ago, and it's all good.

Here is how task manager looks, for comparison if anyone cares:

Firefox version 55.0.2
Palemoon version 28.9.0.2



Clearly doing significantly better on the memory. Maybe a little better on the CPU.

All the browsers are doing the exact same stuff. I mean, not all the exact same stuff at the same time, but, the same sport and the same game. Like not every player on the field is doing the exact same stuff as the next player, but they're all playing the same sport and the same game on the same field at the same time

So there. All looking good so far. I'm liking Palemoon.

You use Mac? I've set up some stuff for Mac users in the past a couple of times, you know, through anydesk.

I don't like Mac. Because I don't know Mac. What takes me 15 minutes to set up with Windows takes me an hour on Mac, and I need assistance because I can't do the simplest things, minimize shit, install shit, open a fucking folder, whatever.

I use only Windows XP myself...

Yeah I use it for botting. Uses 200-400MB per thread, it quadrupled my efficiency.

Yeah it's pretty good, I just started using it yesterday and so far so good. Definitely using less memory than Firefox.

Do you know anything about extensions? I have some Firefox extensions I'd like to use with Palemoon, but I can't install them. But these extensions are old and I'm sure they would work on Palemoon, I think the issue is that the Firefox extensions have manifest.json while Palemoon ones have install.rdf.

Yeah it uses a different extension ecosystem.
Firefox currently uses WebExtensions API, Pale Moon uses XUL/UXP.
I'm guessing you want extensions for
- useragent
- canvas spoof
- changing window resolution
- OSCPU, buildID etc
- spoofing location and timezone
For UserAgent and OSCPU, use the Secret Agent plugin, it spoofs some headers as well. make sure you update the list of UAs, accept headers etc to conform to current browsers.
For Canvas Spoof, go to about:config and turn on Canvas Poison (yeah Pale Moon has built-in canvas spoof )
For changing window resolution use a greasemonkey script, search for "browser spoof" on greasyfork and you'll find one.
Spoofing Location, use the usual about:config hack, same as firefox.
Spoofing Timezone, can't be done reliably, atleast I haven't found a plugin for it yet.
I've noticed Pale Moon extensions for spoofing webGL and font fingerprint don't work all that well, so you'll have to figure out other ways to do that.

If you want to make old FF extensions work on Pale Moon, you'll have to edit the install.rdf file. Replace the GUID settings for firefox with

Not sure what the difference is.

Most of the extensions I'd like to use with Palemoon are custom made. They're pretty small extensions, nothing complicated. And they all work with Firefox v55 that I'm using.

Okay, for user agent I used an extension called "User Agent Overrider." I added custom user agents. Seems to work okay. I also added in about:config some custom user agents for a few sites. Because I want the extension to show a mobile user agent for example, but I want one specific site to open in desktop useragent, so I did it like that.

I don't know what canvas spoof is. Not sure how changing window resolution would help me (ctrl -/+ ?). Never heard of OSCPU or buildID.

I have no need for spoofing location and timezone. I mean, my proxies are from different locations, which automatically means different timezones, no? I don't know, but not something I ever needed.

It's not so much old Firefox extensions that I want to work, it's a few custom extensions. I can't edit the "install.rdf" file because none of the extensions have that file. They all have a "manifest.json" file.

Of course I can remove the manifest.json file from the XPI file and add an install.rdf file. But then, it can't be that simple right??

I've shifted a lot of my operation to Palemoon. I went through a lot of stuff since I started this, I can't type it all out. But I did a lot. Palemoon is good, I'm happy. It's definitely an improvement in terms of sites accessibility, ram usage, cpu usage, speed. Definitely a good thing.
