This is love, any company that lowers prices is a friend of mine .. =)

They got longer content and some new models to.

GPT-4gpt-4-0613 includes an updated and improved model with function calling.gpt-4-32k-0613 includes the same improvements as gpt-4-0613, along with an extended context length for better comprehension of larger texts.With these updates, they be inviting many more people from the waitlist to try GPT-4 over the coming weeks, with the intent to remove the waitlist entirely with this model.

We're excited to announce a few updates to the OpenAI developer platform.
GPT-3.5 Turbo
This model has been updated with a new version: gpt-3.5-turbo-0613 which is more steerable with the system message and includes a new capability: function calling. By describing functions in your prompts, the model can intelligently output a JSON object containing arguments to call these functions based on user input — perfect for integrating with other tools or APIs. Learn more in our function calling documentation.

Plus enjoy a 25% cost reduction for input tokens on GPT-3.5 Turbo (now $0.0015 per 1K input tokens), effective immediately.

Longer Context
We're also introducing gpt-3.5-turbo-16k. This model offers four times the context length of the 4k base model and is priced at $0.003 per 1K input tokens and $0.004 per 1K output tokens.

Model Transitioning
You can begin using the new gpt-3.5-turbo-0613 model today. On June 27th, the stable gpt-3.5-turbo will be automatically upgraded to this new version. If you need more time to transition, you can specify gpt-3.5-turbo-0301 to keep using the older version, which will remain available until September 13th as part of our upgrade and deprecation process.

They need to increase tokens: Anthropic Claude supports 100k tokens, while Magic recently announced a whopping 5M tokens! OpenAI has just announced 16k: they will be left behind because 16k isn't enough.
 
This is a great move.
I decide to move from sbert embedding to openai ada-002 because of the price drop. The embedding is dirt cheap with huge 8K token length.

Even with the price drop, I can see my actual cost will go up by abusing the turbo-3.5-16K model.
The 16K context window is like a drug.
More people will start abusing the large context window by pouring content into it without necessary data pre-processing.
E.g, with previous 4K context window, we will need to select relevant examples before sending to GPT. The data has high quality and great relevancy.
With 16K context window, why bother the hard work? Just dumps huge data into GPT and lets it work its work. The quality of data drops quality and contains more noise. Garbage in garbage out.

The actual cost will increase, for sure. The 16K model also has a higher price. Smart move by OpenAI.
 
Another strategy to migrate people, at least this will make free users subscribe for the paid version.

Every time something like this happens, I get a little excited that my OpenAI billings will reduce. But then I'll figure out some new shit and off we go... Sigh!

Yes its great and I think the prices will drop more in the coming months
 
Well they are really not lowering the prices - but doubling the prices!

For users who currently use gpt 3.5 turbo - 25% slashed prices will work only until September 13th

After that they need to pay the 16K model (gpt-3.5-turbo-16k) which costs double the amount
This also applies to users who currently use the stable version - they will be auto upgraded to the newer model.

Real calculation (for gpt turbo 3.5):
Not many users have gpt4 access - so majority of them use this.

25% discounted rate (Until September 13th)
Users pay $75 instead of the $100

After September 13th - upgrade to newer model
Users pay $150 instead of the $100
50% prices increased

Model deprecations​

Today, we’ll begin the upgrade and deprecation process for the initial versions of gpt-4 and gpt-3.5-turbo that we announced in March. Applications using the stable model names (gpt-3.5-turbo, gpt-4, and gpt-4-32k) will automatically be upgraded to the new models listed above on June 27th. For comparing model performance between versions, our Evals library supports public and private evals to show how model changes will impact your use cases.

Developers who need more time to transition can continue using the older models by specifying gpt-3.5-turbo-0301, gpt-4-0314, or gpt-4-32k-0314 in the ‘model’ parameter of their API request. These older models will be accessible through September 13th, after which requests specifying those model names will fail. You can stay up to date on model deprecations via our model deprecation page. This is the first update to these models; so, we eagerly welcome developer feedback to help us ensure a smooth transition.

You can always use the wp api or insert to mysql directly (the table is wp_posts, or yourcustomprefix_posts).
