Hi, we are currently live in a country that has started blocking websites in our industry. It is only a matter of time before this happens to us. They are doing quite advanced blocking, resulting in a lot of the "good old methods" not working. As the government work on a computer, our "last-resort-idea" is to only have a mobile version visible on the SERP, as this will decrease the chances of them finding us. Have you done this before or know if it's even possible?

Idk if this is really the case, but well,
If you're targetting mobile-only users, you can cloak desktop users to a different page/content while keeping the same content for google
You should check some public plugins/custom codes that could do the work, otherwise, you can hire someone to make it for you

This was our original idea. A idea heavily used within the industry, but the government has managed to install the block before the actual domain (before the redirect), which means it is out of our control. We believe the best we can hope for is to remain unknown to them. 80% of searches are on mobile, while the government work on desktop, so we feel that we decrease the chances of them finding us if we only appear in mobile searches. But we don't know if this is even possible.

If they want to find you, then they'll find you no matter what you do. The cloaking is to deflect search engine bots but not to hide from Governments.

Nah, those Government employees are quite bad, most of the time. They just Google the phrase from desktop, add the URLs they think are bad to the list and send it to ISPs for block. Probably is gambling in Asia, lol. :D

It's same for India. They blocked thousands of sites at once. The users who are looking for piracy or porn learned to use proxies, VPNs, Tor browser, apps etc. Now, it became close to impossible for Governments to stop piracy. On weekends, organic traffic reaches close to 1 million for some of these sites.
