One page squeeze landing page in Wordpress

Hello,

I've been searching for over 2 hours and haven't been able to find a free wordpress theme to use as a single page landing page. How is it possible for this to be so difficult to find?

All I want as my landing page is a page with a background image, some text, and an email entry form, with link to go to the affiliate offer page. All of the free themes I've looked at either lack customization, or have horrible reviews citing bugs, errors, slow loading times, etc.

I have hosting set up and have found good wordpress plugins to use for the email entry form.

If anybody could give me tips on a free wordpress theme for this application, or how to go about creating a simple landing page like this, I would be very thankful.
