One more Search Engine is coming

IMO most of the people will still use Google, and it's just because they have a good product, it's just a fact.

Maybe there will be something in the future that will replace Google as a search engine, but it won't be search engine as we understand it today.

If they miraculously get to the point Google is then most of us that saw it on here first would be forever greatful to you.
Note I said “miraculously” it has to be a miracle:D.

Post people on here just want to see Google fail because Google has found and blocked their few tricks and therefore cutting the wings they fly with:p

Joined the waitlist! Tired of all google bullshit, lets hope to the end of google monopoly and to not forget anything in life have a start and have an end, just like Yahoo had.

Thanks for the share!

Well if they are the best at search intent, and they push on privacy since user pay a subscription it may work.
But they have to be the best by far and with google in place i don't see it happening.

Nobody was believing in The Athletic magazine subscription model to pay for sport news and it grew big and all. So maybe there is hope to have a good competitor for Google ?

SEO community eagerly waiting for a competion, if we can do something to grow his starup then we should definitely do it. We really need a competitor for google.

I remember when Omnity was supposed to destroy Google. Didn't happen. I'm not a skeptic, but a subscription model of a search engine aiming to beat Google, is an uphill battle atop an uphill battle, with both battles being waged at the peak of a mountain. ...a really big mountain. ...a really big mountain coated in ice, that someone poured oil all over.

I wish them the best of luck and may the force be with them.

Not so sold on that. Bing results are horrendous quite frankly.
Actually its not about overcoming google its about overcoming its monopoly. And providing at least decent quality. It could make up with other features esp. privacy-related. And customization (as in, you customize for yourself while they provide tools/options, instead of them "customizing" for you).

And while Google is a powerful piece of software (together with Human Res. aiding it), it still lowers its search results quality deliberately, in order to increase its bottom line. (Yup, that can happen in monopolies! No biggie!) ..Beating Google in numbers/bottom line, thats nearly impossible as of now. In other regards, I actually see possibility and space.

So they want you to pay a monthly subscription for a "search engine" that doesn't track you and returns Bing results... sounds like its destined to fail

Definitely.. they are in absolutely no position to do that. What they need is numbers and clout initially. Like cant they do a crowdfunding campaign? By doing that they gain some popularity too. Two birds in one stone.

Only work if they start giving more benefit to content creators. The content creators can change the game. Though it's hard but good to see.

It's a cool concept, but I think it'll be hard for it to really compete with Google

Contrary to what some have said on this thread, I think the name is excellent. The subscription model mentioned by the article will not work, but I am all for anything that can bring down Google a notch.
