On Site SEO

One thing I also do with linking to your own inner pages is to not only use the anchor text but also use the title: <a title="keyword" href="URL">keyword</a>. I'm not sure if there's any proof that this is better than just the anchor, but I remember someone making a case for it saying it helps robots recognize relevance.

That's cool, what is it a plugin? Please elaborate.;)

Yes it is a plugin, if you are not 100% with SEO then it is very good. It analyses your pages and basically tells you in monkey see money do terms what needs to be done to totally optimise your page.

On top of this plugin I also prefer Yoast to all in one seo, that is just personal preference though.

Another great little plugin is HeadSpace 2, it enable you to use different themes on different pages, this is handy if you have say a landing page with one template but want the internal template to be something very different.

How about H1 Tags?

I don't know what will I do on homepage, Blog Home Title contains h1 tags and also the post title contains the h1 tag too..

Traffic travis show tha my page have too much h1 tags..

You can only use 1 H1 tag per page. That is a critical probem amd should be fixed.

Very little of this information is on-page SEO.

By far, the most common problem I see with sites is missing the fundamentals on page stuff and targeting your page content incorrectly.

Too many times we think we have it right, and we do not.

look at this post, and look at my response to him.

http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...22876-cant-hit-1-whats-wrong.html#post4041893

The guy has been trying to rank his site over one other, and he spammed 300,000 links trying to do it, when his on-page seo is targeting the wrong keyword.

On-page seo is really cut and dried, don't make it over complicated.

Title tag-Should contain your best keyword toward the beginning of the title, be about 50 - 60 characters in length, no more than 60, and be exclusive to the page. Don't use site wide titles.

Description tag. Should contain your primary keyword toward the beginning of the description, should be at least 70 characters long, no more than 160. It too needs to be exclusive to the page. Include your secondary keywords if you can make it flow.

Do not put keywords in your title and description that are not on the page. You would be amazed how many people stuff the description with what they do, then fail to mention the keyword in the content. If your description says "SEO, Social Media, and Custom link building" make sure that each of these are mentioned in the content of the page. Write your description very carefully because it will more than likely be the snippet the4 search engine displays in the SERPS. Make it like a headline s it grabs attention.

In each of these cases try to use as many characters as possible without going over.

Keyword tags-yes keyword tags-USE THEM. I know all the blah. blah, blah about them being not used, but since no one has spammed them for years, someday some search engines may start using them. It is much easier to do it when you build the page than to go back later and fill them in.

Header tags:

Only 1 H1 tag per page, this is a rule carved in stone. Place it as the title of the main body text, and use your main keyword near the beginning of the H1 tag.

H2 and H3 tags- Use them in each page, I usually use multiple H2 tags, and some H3. Keep these related to the content, and the keyword near the beginning, but don't kill yourself trying to push keywords into them. Lower level H tags I seldom use, except for aesthetics.

Use an image on your page an be sure to use the alt tag to label the image. Label the image for what it is, not your keywords. (Of course, you might slip in an image of your logo somewhere and alt tag it "keyword"logo graphic).

Putting a video on your page may help bounce rate, make sure it is at least 45 seconds long.

Everyone tells you to use at least one instance of your keyword in bold, italics, and underline. I avoid doing this unless it makes sense for the content. Instead, I will add a copyright line at the bottom and use all three tags on it. Something along the lines of "Copyright 2012-Stupiddamncomputer-make money online-all rights reserved" and use underline, strong, and emphasis on it. It also gives you another instance of your main keyword in exact match order.

I try to quote an authority site in pages where it makes sense for the content, and I link to them in the article body.I do not worry about the follow attribute.

I try to write 400-500 words on the home page and have all content pages with more than 700 words. If I need more room, I make a page 2 for that article.

I write the article I want to write for the user, then publish it, then look at diagnostics and tweak until the page targets what I want it to.

Never take for granted that you have targeted your content right, you will almost always be wrong, because every word on the page counts as content. If you have the "previous posts" showing on each page, and it lists each month for the past 2 years, it will dilute the keyword density of the actual content.

And last, but NOT least, write content for your visitors, then tweak the SEO, not the other way around.
