On page SEO will not work after 1/2 years

If you think onpage seo doesn't work try this man. Just setup html site with a domain and add long few images for the site without add any content (wordy) and also don't even add ALT tags to that images. and try to rank it without backlink. You will understand what's the true meaning of onpage seo. and of course do not optimize site speed, do not optimize images. and try to rank.

btw...

Hi beena.. you're from India right?
yes
Yes. I know you and sometimes see you live without that spectacles. I live in closer to you actually. btw How you find this forum?
Your name please . I guess one of my Delhi based coluge :)

Wrong.
What autosuggest shows aren't keywords, but topics.
Totally different.

Calculating the difficulty score for a keyword is a daunting task and you'll likely end up with a false approximation

Topics have a direct correlation with your post's title/headers
So, it's easier to assess competition this way. All you need is a couple of browser extensions and sketch all sites ranking for thin content.

I hope you're aware that topical relevancy is taking a major leap.
Google wants to terminate searches at the page.

The original is always better than any imitation.
Sure, you need to keep your site and content original, that's always nice. Doesn't matter which keywords you target, competitive or newly found, so I don't think this has anything to do with what I said :D Just being first doesn't mean that you will be original forever from Google's perspective. So from that perspective it's easiest to be unique in moderately competitive niches - they have enough for you to understand the strong top competitiors and stand out from them.

Do not think that some factors may not work. Your best bet is to take a deeper look at SEO and use every factor that would help you improve your site's performance in the eyes of search engines. Competition does not sleep either!

It will work but it will be tougher to rank. Google is a bot. It needs text to understand pages. The same goes for backlinks.

In one statement some guy at google said that it is impossible to remove backlinks as a ranking factor.

Recently many people are targeting all the KGR and google autosuggestion keywords which makes me think that most of these long tail keywords will be competitive in the coming years and unlike now later on only On-page SEO will not work even it is long ass tail

any thoughts?
On page SEO would still work but you might not be able to rank, especially against others doing the same exact thinf if not better. At this point, you'll eventually need something more. Or you pray to daddy Google.

If the thought of competition scares you off, then you shouldn't be working in SEO.

I would go even further than this - increase in competition is a great sign. It means that many people think that this is a lucrative niche, which is definitely a sign that you need to enter the niche.

Obviously on-page SEO works, that's a real weird thing to say. What's not working is probably the fact that your competitors are doing it better. The way you put it makes me think, what else do you do than keywords? There is much that can be done with On-Page. Will structured data be obsolete? WIll accessibility be obsolete? Will pagespeed be obsolete? Will UX, engagement, bounce rate etc be obsolete as all of those depend on on-page? Probably not.

This long-tail or short kws or whatever is a (slowly) dying practice anyway. While Google still relies some on specific keywords, I think this will be eventually going away as their NLP models are becoming better and better understanding user intent and site content on a deep level.

Indeed, competition means there's gold in the hills.
The best niches are ones with some competition but not enough where you can't even start.
If you have the liquidity then aiming for competitive niches isn't that bad of an idea. Good response.

No that's not correct because the supply of those types of keywords is infinite as SirLouen said in his reply.

There are literally millions of keywords no one will be able to cover in his lifetime. If if the "long tail keyword" trend becomes outdated, people would've made enough money from it and then something else will come. It's a never-ending cycle.

But what bothers me is that the method won't die naturally. Backrub will kill it with its zero-click searches and featured snippets. They will more and more steal from bloggers and show the short to-the-point answers directly on the SERP making the sites suffer and eventually die. You can't win if google is your competitor.

new keywords will appear over time, like this covid situation, people start looking for something related to it, which was a new thing before covid came

I'm sure there are always more potential keywords with low competition, because new problems keep popping up, and people look for sources, how to solve the problem.

with your writing, nothing you do on your site, will work

The SEO may not work, but while it works, you need to use this opportunity. If, nevertheless, this happens, then it will be possible to use other traffic channels, such as Pinterest for example.

An increase in competition does not mean something is not viable.
It just means it takes a little more effort to get the job done right.
On-page is the foundation how do you expect to rank for keywords without proper on-page?

Are you going to start building links directly lol
Above two post has given all your answer.

You may rank without backlinks but you will not rank without proper basic on page.

I am hearing this from last 10 years that SEO will not work a new thread pop up every three months.
Those guys who are too conscious about Google updates and are afraid of those humming bird, penguin, panda, zebra etc. SEO will not work for them some day.
SEO need time and effort or money.

Few crazy fellas think, they will wait a month or a week and will be on top and then they run...... and that is where SEO not works and will not work.
Stay and work as per updates change domains and you will stay forever.

See any top sites, they have done the same.

In my opinion, will find some alternative way instead of using long-tail keywords.
Initially, we used short tail keywords now we are targeting the long one.
With hard work and smart minds, we can find a way :)
