Seriously upset to see this today, One of my websites is in the top 15 for "Car Insurance" and a few other insurance related niches in the UK.

I have noticed today, that google has brought THIS into play.

Normal Search... search for this on UK Goog

Amongst the search results, placed at number 1

Clicking on the Information I find this

Then I SEE THIS.. WHICH MAKES ME MAD!?

I think my Job as an Affiliate Insurance Lead Gen Guy is seriously going to go down the pan.

Not to mention some of my EMD's wiped out by google, now they are bringing this into play.

Does anyone know how long this has been running for in the UK??

It is something thats quite new for people in the USA too? Or has been out a while, thanks!

Hopefully they wont go into my smaller niches, but if anyone is thinking about being an affiliate for insurance, trust me its hard to get into and now even harder to get leads!! :(

Huh, I've never noticed that before. It's even sneakily hidden in top spot, not looking like an ad, with the slightest grey box around it. That's a fucking joke.

Won't be long before Google is doing this for all niches.

We're screwwwwweddddddd!

Unless you know how to work it.

Not new. They are slowly bring this for popular terms. They are testing it with .UK first. Try searching for Credit Cards term on google.uk and you will be amazed how they are trying to monetize to the max!

Never seen it before, but this indeed really sucks! This way they just dominate the affiliate insurance scene.

I read my tablet every morning when I go to the loo and what do you know, when I Google "news," news.google.com comes right there on top; of course, you might expect to see BBC, CNN, or Fox at No1, but no juice for them.

These fuckers are getting shadier and greedier by the day.... the last few updates have brought ZERO improvement in the SERPs, but miraculously their own pages plus millions of YouTube videos are ranking remarkably well.

I'v seen it before, happened in my niche as well few months back. Plenty of physical product names + review searches end up with G being no1 affiliate. Seems they're jumping into CPA now.

WOW, thats just sliceda big chunk of the market out, find a different niche asap. I have one in mind for lead generation which im going for.

Goole is there to profit only by themselves.

What drives me mad, its when you search for site's name to get the url, first thing you get is the searched site inside of the adblock, first in the list. I don't want the owners of the site to pay Google for what I already know what I'm looking for. So I always click the site's own listing, which is down the list outside of the adblock.

Earnings drop make them push up the ante, nice to see them getting in IM where the money is :D

Waiting for the G lovers to come in here and say suck it up they can do what they want. Just work harder, build quality info and give them what they want :banghead:

All i can say is wow, all the big brand are gonna be pissed off. I bet there is lawsuit coming from big brand, this is just main manipulation. Good for google

I know where you coming from, at the end of the day its their business, they can do what they like, however manipulating search result and promoting in such a sneaky way pisses me off, and am sure french government would probably be on their back, only country with back bone to sue google for shady biz

Think how Confused.com feel about this then. Google really does has the power to swallow up any service/information driven website business model. Shiiiii'

Nobody's "screwed". Use Bing and Yahoo. Complaining about Google is like praying to them.

This crap is going to put thousands of businesses, out of business. Truly they are evil. I see class action lawsuits in the making here and the Competition Commission authorities taking an active interest in slaying this greedy beast.
