Olympics opening ceromony explained

Hahaha.. good one mate. I fell asleep after the teams were introduced (made it till Maldives). Some teams had some hot female athletes.

I think the Abide with me rendition was quite nice and solemn. The mish-mash of British music was kinda stretched though.

Sorry can't really read right now my vision is impaired due to beer at 6:23am :p

Paul McCartney was a joke at the end, being out of sync with his recording
Apart from Mr Bean and the James Bond bit, it was several hours wasted

What I cant understand is why the American team never got the rubber glove entry at customs for importing fake Chinese clothes.
The Italians looked good in their real Ralph Loren suits :)

Thanks given, a great and funny read!
Had already interpreted most of it myself in virtually the exact same way as you, lol

Did you write this yourself? If so, great style, am thoroughly impressed, WD!

Someone I know on another forum had that up at 12.51am today
So its doing the rounds from somewhere
Apart from a couple of bits like Mr Bean, the James Bond sketch and the drummers, who showed true stamina, it was a joke
The teams when they entered, again deserve appreciation ( even the knock off clothing team :) )
Some of the dancing was totally cringe worthy
With naff all else on UK TV for the next couple of weeks, more time to devote to IM

BWhahaha excellent read. I made myself a cup of tea halfway through to keep me going. Pretty much how I saw it too. The James bond part I liked but that was about it. :/

What a bloody mess.

honestly,

I didn't personally like it. Yeah I agree it was too messy and not well choreo'd... but great for a fun show.. not for an olympics opening though...

let the games begin!!!

who do you think will get the most gold???

yeah I know.. China again... lol

Michael Jordan then says in interview that he only knew what was going on because he spend so much time in England and he didn't think most people round the world would get it (unless they read this, of course).
Should have been "...because he spent so much time in England shagging white women with bad teeth..."

I happened to see the Opening Ceremony, and I really believed that when the rings came in, Aliens were going to come out of those saucers and finally the truth was going to be revealed to the world about they've been controlling us ever since they landed in Roswell. I really appreciate some aspects of British culture, such as YouTube videos of Margaret Thatcher making a room full of men wearing wigs her collective bitch, but a lot of it makes me just shake my head and realize there was a probably a very good reason why the Puritans escaped and that whole revolutionary war thing seems perfectly reasonable given the state of deterioration 200 and some-odd years later. I try to be fair and generous in my sentiments but some "things British" are just simply wrong, such as (as the OP alluded to) this strange fascination toward Paul McCartney and worst of all "Sir Elton John", I mean seriously WTF how do you all bring yourselves to get out of bed in the morning and start another day of being enslaved to the crown with this stain on your national bed sheets?

Even I, as an uneducated, ugly and rude American am aware of the notion of "nobility" and the presumed connection between the definition of the word and the class that carries the same name. Traditionally the way one became knighted into nobility was by thrusting their sword into the heart of Britain's enemy, but now one buggers another man and sings songs about it. Why not Sir Freddy Mercury?

Opening ceremony was fantastic ? Lee your a funny guy but this thread should be moved to the daily mail section

China's 2008 Olympics opening ceremony made London's look like a <insert word here>. The only good part about it was the James bond scene & Mr.bean part.
