"My capitalism at it's ugliest" comment was directed to the medical services. My sister has a major illness which has a simple cure. Red tape is stopping her. They thing is, if they admit there is a cure, charity reps and drugs sales will have to find a better disease.

This is very arrogant indeed! .... if you don't want to donate so be it. You don't have to discourage others.

Anyway ... why did you became BHW member? to get free stuff? to get free lessons? and then boldly make such an arrogant statement as if your point of view is the "human value to built a better world"? what a crap!.... at least Olden and other guys here have been helping and give added value to others like me(or you?), and may I ask what kind of contribution or good things did you gave to others, especially in BHW? is there any? ..... this is just another example why it needs to be fixed. It sickens me think agents get bonuses to help kill people because, let's call it what it is. True... insurance has become a major scam industry by playing on people's fears. If I could have put every dollar of premium I've paid into a plain old savings account (instead of giving it to insurance moguls) I'd have saved enough for my lifetime health expenses many times over. As it is, I have none of it, and if I need help from the company I paid it to... well we see what happened to Oldenstylehats. So much for being taken care of in a time of need.

As we help out Olden let's try to do what we can to help ourselves and all of society to be free of the blood-sucking insurance leeches.

Thats the problem to live in the us, you have to pay for the medical care.

I am a 40 year old single parent of a 2 1/2 yo daughter who lost his job 9 months ago, lost everything I own (house, then car, then apartment) and had to move in with my parents and am not really making squat YET... I only say all this not for simpathy but as an example of someone who can't afford it but is going to donate all of yesterdays take... for me, $1.17:/ But olden is one of the people who inspired me to get started... The US health care system is jacked! I haven't had insurance in 10 years and its only a matter of time before I'll be in his shoes. Please don't be a tight-ass, if I can give a days pay, anyone on here can!

I just withdrew money from my PayPal account before coming accross this thread, still got a little bit left and thats all I have to offer OldenStyleHats for now. I remember reading the blog farm post and I truly believe there is a lot that has been contributed to this forum.

This is a very interesting post. I think there are two ways to view this. One is cold and harsh, and the other is with compassion.

It's amazing that so many BHW members are looking at this situation and saying, "Yes, this is someone who has helped me in my career and I have never been able to repay him but now I have a chance to show a little appreciation by making a donation." Great for each of you who take this approach.

BHW = Community

Most of us would not know one another if we were sharing a seat on the bus but on here, we have the opportunity to earn respect from others and Oldenstylehats was able to do that.

As someone else said, this does point out how unimportant material things are in life...
