Hi,

Matt Cutts said it does change almost nothing, but it does not always tell the truth :)

I have see as everyone old domain is better for rank but its only because the domain have an old profile linking already built ? or old has really an impact ?

Thanks !

Depends on a lot of factors, such as what the domain was used for prior to you obtaining it. If you have two identical domains (same number and quality of backlinks), and one is much older than the other, then obviously the older domain is the better one to have.

1. Buy the domain based on brand.
2. Then look at other metrics and make sure the links make sense for your company. For example I once bought a domain that had a ton of wikipedia traffic. Sounds great right? Well the traffic from Wikipedia caused the bounce rate on site to be terrible which caused bad onpage signals.
3. Make sure the domain isn't penalized...example: it ranks for it's brand name.
