So i have a page with 5 articles and I never post anything new.
Will these page ever rank?
or do i need one new article every month for it to rank?

Will these pages ever rank? If you don't promote the content, no.

Do you need new article every month for it to rank? Not necessary.

Yes you can rank them as it is but its better to add fresh content always.

Golk,

Yes you can rank them without changing the content frequently. As long as they are optimized effectively and you have built some links to those pages, you should have issues ranking them. The competitiveness of the keywords you are trying to rank them for will largely determine how much work you will have to do to accomplish that.

Adding new content is good however the main purpose of this is to add more pages to rank for more keywords, to give fresh new content to readers and/or to make optimization improvements.

Here are some good insights on how fresh content can influence rankings,

hope that helps,

IMO it all depends on the difficulty of the keywords. If you don't touch them at all, they'll only rank for low competition kw's, if any.

They will not rank for competitive keywords without LOTS of work, that is a fact.

yes, you can still use your old content for ranking. you can promote them on social media bookmarking. also, you can try to update a little bit your articles, or to check them if they are really seo optimized. if they are optimized correctly they will be ranked imediatly. in my case my articles are ranked in 2-3 weeks on first page, depends of the keywords using squirrly seo.

I have a website that I haven't updated for half a year and it still ranks high for the keywords I am targeting.
Despite that, I believe it is better to add new content on a regular basis.

It all depends on the niche, in my niche I don't need to update it that often.

Just post some new articles :)

Fresh content is always an advantage, if nothing else, longtail traffic makes it worth your while.

However - it's not a must in most cases, although 5 articles is too low for a website, I would go for 20-30.

You can rank it like that, but you'd only be putting it at risk of being slapped in the next update/refresh.
